When I purchased The NET & "Net 2.0" DVD-box I tought that I'm buying one mediocre movie (1), and one sh*tty movie: "2.0". But thanks to heavens that also "2.0" was better than advertised.
After watching the movie, it was quite entertaining. Nice acting and nice scenery, Of course the theme of the movie was little bit repeating from the original "The Net", but then again.. its permitted, it's "2.0".. and you cant make sequel without repeating the theme of identify theft on sequel, can you? In the end, I Think that this movie is slightly better than first one (not lots of, but barely, see it yourself). Because it's more fresher than 1995 movie.
6/10, don't judge the book by it's covers.

After watching this, Sony pictures should look itself in the mirror, and ask themselves if any sensible person would check his personal savings from a business class seat in a airplane, and then toss the tablet screen away, with no password security active, just because a stewardess wants to make a chit chat? This movie not only stinks in its story line, any sensible diet coke drinking U.S. patriot knows that these kind of actions are asking for trouble.
Why don't they make The Net 3-1/2, add Linux and MacOS into the game, and create some good laughs? Come on! After how they guillotined any credits of whats left of this genre, why don't create some parody. I give The Net 2.0 4 out of 10, because the actors did a good job, and made the movie endurable.

The conclusion is simple, watch this promo film for Turkey with a slight story, and all clichés will pass one by one.
The chases are not state of the art. A small car chase with no surprises, some running, some more running.
The flash backs and flash forwards started to annoy me, just as the characters and their roles which weren't a surprise at the end.
Sandra Bullock's trailer was on the DVD as well, and I have to say: watch the Net trailer for even more action and entertainment.
Not too bad for a B-movie, don't expect anything new or refreshing. IT people like myself will of course see through the technical terms, but who'll watch for that purpose ;)

Seemingly inspired by Paul Greengrass' schizophrenic cinematography in The Bourne Supremacy, this movie tries, and fails, to make a mountain out of a molehill. Shaking a camera, indiscriminately stopping for a few frames, then speeding up or slowing down doth not an exciting film make. Worse still, Nikki Deloach shouldn't be trusted to carry a bag of groceries, let alone an entire movie. Istanbul is a beautiful location but it seemed grossly underutilized in this movie. And the music director needs to get back on his medication.
I fail to see why this even carries the name of it's predecessor. It has no correlation to Angela Bennett. Nor to the Pretorians. Nor to any element in the first film whatsoever. Avoid this movie at all costs.

If you stuck a gun to this video and pulled the trigger you'd be doing this movie justice! It's the same story only tweaked a bit. Don't get me wrong the acting was great. The scenery was great! It's the story that stunk! And what's up with all that herky jerky stop action. They'd freeze the film at stupid points. All it was missing was the cheesy music that makes you go, "oh no, now what?".
Not to mention you could see what was going to happen. The main character is "the dumbest smart person". The character isn't even that smart either. She does a few things that are smart but for the most part she's quit dumb.
Saddest part of this film is the end! They leave it open for another sequel. God please don't let them do that!

The Net 2.0 is an above average movie for its genre. It is basically the story of a woman who has her identity along with her life stolen,as if she never existed.she must then try to get it back.this movie is not a sequel to the original.in fact it has none of the characters from that movie.nevertheless,it is suspenseful, riveting and action packed.there are of course a few plot twists, some predictable, others not.the acting is more than decent, especially from Nikki Deloach(TV's North Shore) as Hope Cassidy, the main character. She is very credible as a woman who has lost everything.the supporting cast are also strong.the direction is a bit suspect at times,as the director utilizes many jump shots throughout.A jump shot is essentially a type of camera trick.this is used to make the action flashier for the audience. However,it has been done so much before that audiences are mot impressed.minor quibble aside, however,Net 2.0 is overall a well done, entertaining and fun movie.well worth your 90 minutes. 7/10

accidentally, I watched this movie, it was shown at night in German TV, and I'm pretty sure, you simply watched the movie under wrong circumstances ... it seems to be the sequel of "the Net", but after watching it, I'm very sure, it wasn't planned to be ... look at the acting, the directing, the camera, the casting itself, look at it a bit more closely, and you will come to one conclusion: this was the pilot of a planned TV series, not a real sequel ... the whole plot / script shows it quite clear, they try to introduce the main character within the first minutes, including a plot - which always is a bit hard for the first episode, mostly doesn't work out very well, however, there are often problems, especially in structure, within the first episode of a new series ... seemingly planned to somewhat fill the hole "Alias" left ...
I'm pretty sure, the producers followed the opinion of an test audience and simply said "no", so, the pilot, planned as 2 x 45 minute episodes, was re-edited to something like a "movie", and then sold worldwide for a good price, eg to Germany through something like a joint-venture-package, quite often taking place within other products, lets say a prime time series, plus some "I was a pilot" - movies - this time one which tried to be something like "Alias" - a series which was shown at the same TV station here in old Germany, which now showed "Net 2.0" ... I don't think this is a coincidence, it's something like a giveaway, not a bad thing, but for me its simply quite obvious, its a pilot, not really good, able covering quite much with fast cuts / re-editing (but who doesn't), so nowadays quite normal, just rejected ...

This was like The Net, but with no tech, and a crappier story line. Threw out the whole movie you are left asking "why do I care". This was a grasp at the cult fallowing that The Net had, and it could have failed worse. The only upside (i saw that sarcastically) to this movie was that you always knew what was going to happen next. You will sit there waiting for the twist that never comes.
I loved The Net, and even though my friends told me this movie was no good, I saw it. Now I am left wishing for that hour and half of my life back (and the 5 bucks I spent renting it). It is movies like this that helps me understand why people download movies they have not heard of.

OK this film (tape?) has a fair few flaws, but not really that many, at least compared with The Net 1. As it mentions in the end credits, the movie was shot entirely on HD Video, something we're going to see a lot more of, and this must have a very significant impact on production costs.
Nevertheless, I can forgive it most of its faults except one. The laughably unrealistic portrayal of computer screens. Why do all Hollywood directors think that computer screens need to have two-inch-high fonts and animated doohickeys all over the place? This sort of movie is inevitably going to be watched by dweebs all over the planet who simply will not put up with this sort of thing.
Takedown, I think, was the only film I've ever seen which had believable computer screens. Given the subject matter, just as well. So why not this one? There is simply no excuse. There are just too many computer-literate ppl out there now, and they all switch off as soon as they spot rubbish like that. It ruins the whole experience. Truly. If not for that, I would have given it an 8 or 9.

For a weekday evening, this movie is great to watch instead of your daily sitcom, but I wouldn't watch it in a cinema.
Though 3-4 times I had trouble to follow who is who, what is what, as everything got twisted in 15 minutes intervals, the storyline is interesting. Even the last scene is a twist, which is a nice touch to get away with, leaving things open for a follow up.
The places in Istmabul are nice, and it was funny to recognize the Turkish accent of my former office colleagues. I guess, this is the main attraction of this movie, the Turkish culture you can see as the background.
You get some light action, some average pretty main actress, but you'll sleep smoothly all night long afterwards. I'd give 6/10.

Hope Cassidy (Nikki DeLoach) is a fine computer expert, living in California. Once very shy, Hope has been in love with a gentleman for six beautiful months. But, one day, she has a restlessness and decides it would be good for the couple to move to Istanbul, where she will have a short-term job that pays very well. Boypal doesn't buy it, refuses to go and warns her that its probably a bad choice. Perhaps she should have listened! But, she boards a plane with a first class ticket. The flight crew fawns over her, Hope is even given a lovely bracelet by attendant Roxalena. Yet, her nightmare begins upon landing in the old, old city. To begin, her new boss has not sent anyone to meet her flight, although a kind cab driver takes her under his wing. After checking into her hotel, she finds there are complications with her passport, her bank account, and other pieces of identification. It soon becomes apparent that someone has stolen her identity and given her a new name. Although she starts work for the new company, after only an hour she is ordered out of the building when she can't provide the correct passport. Then, all too soon, a large sum of money comes up missing and is related to Hope's brief time at the new firm. Soon the Russian mafia, Interpol, and lots of others are after Hope, causing her to be on the run throughout the city. She even takes refuge for a brief time in a mosque, where the Whirling Dervishes are twirling! Yet, she is captured. What will her fate be? This is a pretty lame sequel to Sandra Bullock's very fine The Net. DeLoach isn't a bad performer but the material is not so great. There is one implausibility after another, although parts of the film ape the first movie. Hope is questioned for hours, Hope finds the woman who now has her stolen identify. The other cast members are not well known but the Turkish actors are a joy. The biggest asset is definitely the setting, where those of us who will never board a plane get an eyeful of Istanbul. But, this is hardly the best ingredient for a thriller! If you are a huge fan of the original flick or are an expert in computer technology, you might want to sit this one through. Otherwise, there is probably no reason to "net" this movie for an evening's entertainment.
This story is clearly based in the Net of Sandra Bullock filmed abot 10+ years ago but is not a sequel. . Period. The new story is even more complex than the original and requires you to watch from the start or you will lose much of it . A mixture of full action , suspense , psych thriller and a bit of matrix. Definitely worth if watching for its action although it could sound quite overwhelming for other aspects including the rather computer illiterate IT consultant using hotmail to read her emails and the sudden cut off of her money the time she was on the airplane . The IT goofs to what the story is supposed downgrade it much.
Also did nt forget that it has been filmed in Instabul the well known once capital of Byzantine . It gives aa excellent setting for the movie although it is underrated in favour of the story.
And surely wait for sequel!
Plot : 7 action:10 setting : 10 goofs : many 3/5 It could be better if the director could care more on the story situation and the ingredients involved.

The Net 2.0 is the sequel to troll 2......I mean the NET.. Which occurs during 2005 "you can tell by all the product placement". The Net 2.0 is the first movie in HISTORY to be completely funded by product placement" Specifically that DAMN PDA phone which gets as much time on screen as the leading women!". The movie, and I use the word movie lightly, plays dramatic music and freezes in on the PDA just about every time she uses it such as when she's in the BATHROOM!. As you can probably guess this really enhances the riveting story that is centered on 1 main character and how her identity is stolen.
The movie opens with a bang as our main leading lady runs through the streets of Istanbul and is chased by the SLOWEST police force on the planet. While she is running she takes pauses and freezes the movie to tell us about her life. First she explains her name is Hope Cassidyis and that her parents died in a plane crash. Then something about her sisters who were never born or something, Then the movie unfreezes and she starts running again. This scene is about all the back story we get from this movie. That and her constantly telling everyone she meets that shes a computer programmer who's really good and that Turkish people want her. Its all really poorly acted. Anyways, back to the endless chase scene. This Opening Scene IS ALL THE ACTION that's in the movie. If you think is going to get better it isn't! If you think that Helicopter on the DVD screen is going to chase Hope then your wrong! You just get to see a Shot of it flying at the end and it lasts 3 seconds and there is NO REASON FOR IT!!!!!!!!! JUST SO THE COULD PUT IT ON THE COVER AND MAKE YOU THINK SHES GOING TO BE CHASED BY A CHOPPER! Its in some Parallel Universe, perhaps in a good movie.
to be fair there is some action spliced through the movie so its not completely unbearable. Also it taught me that everyone, and i mean EVERYONE in Turkey speaks fluent English. The rest of the movie is made up of really bad scenes and REALLY AWFUL acting. One of the sets is a Commercial Jet who's interior has 6, count them 6 seats! Then In one scene when Hope goes to her Job that is Secretly run by the Russian Mafia-Jesus this is stupid, so she enters the main computer terminal that's guarder by a laser mesh thing. Think Resident Evil but REALLY low Budget. She enters the room then sits down and another shot later A WOOD DOOR APPEARS OUT OF NO WHERE! where the lasers use to be. Guess they didn't have the budget for the lasers! They spent a good 20 seconds telling us about the Lasers but hey guess when we have our actress brake into the room will put A DOOR there!
And then there's the scene where are leading Lady changes her suit mid scene. This is only about 1/3 the way in So it gets So much worse, trust me don't rent this! Lastly, there is a scene in which a cop shoots a car 3 times and it BLOWS up!@#!#% Guess its not a good idea to fill your car with propane tanks and Hydrogen...

A few days ago, when I watched the movie I had very low expectations in the beginning. And do not get me wrong, this movie certainly is not a timeless masterpiece. The storyline is pretty similar to its prequel but I am going to try and ignore that fact. There are some interesting plot twists in the storyline but if you are used to watching action thrillers, you might actually find them pretty predictable.
The acting isn't actually all that bad, and the location of the shooting being Istanbul in Turkey, the scenes are rather interesting to watch. The direction and picture quality was mediocre at best, but the plot being well paced, makes us ignore these limitations to a certain extent. I would like to avoid giving away any sort of spoilers for those who have not yet watched the film yet but it would suffice to say that if computers aren't really your thing, you might as well avoid this film. And to come to the point of the cast, I certainly welcome the decision to add some Turkish actors in the mix. In my honest opinion, they did help to add some much needed freshness to this otherwise rather placid film.
All in all, this movie might not be in the same level as the matrix films (maybe not even close) but if you watch the film having low expectations in mind, I can guarantee that you will not get bored.

I've seen better movies on Lifetime. You'd think that shooting in a location like Turkey would add a great deal to the production value, but it seems that the director really didn't embrace the setting at all. There are so many opportunities with a country such as Turkey to shoot in. This is a place that doesn't show up very often on the intellectual radar of most Americans. Why not add to the mystique of the film? This could have been shot in Los Angeles with the same effect. Huge waste.
Oh, the dialogue was bad, the acting was mediocre, the characters were flat, the story was predictable and the cinematography was pedestrian. This is the kind of thing you leave on for your dog when he's at home alone, so he doesn't feel lonely.
Or if you want to torture the cat with bad filmmaking.

I don't see why is the movie being called slow for any reason. The plot line does take it's base from the first movie, but this movie, i.e. 2.0 is totally different from the first one. Heck, Bullock's character doesn't face language issues.
I agree that the movie has some glitches, but overall, I think the movie is even better than the first version. If I have to say, the first movie too had an excellent plot, but it was overshadowed by Sandra Bullock herself. And in that movie, you already knew the person behind the Net Trap.
This movie however maintains it's suspense. Without divulging any more, I'll just say that the movie is a must watch....

Like most viewers I suppose, I was expecting something of a sequel to The Net, but while the premise is the same, this is a completely different film. A computer whiz has her identity stolen leaving her all alone in the world, and as Mrs. Meers always says, "Sad to be all alone in the world." However the twist here is that we're in Istanbul. Ms Deloach delivers a creditable performance of a computer whiz with moxie who finds herself without any identity in a strange city where she doesn't understand the language and there's no way to tell who to trust. Direction is tight and to the point. The plot is full of holes, but hey, it's a movie and you get a lot of scenic Istanbul to make up for that. Overall, I enjoyed this outing. One complaint: the continual trick of stopping the action for a sec throughout the movie did nothing for me nor for the film.
