So bad it's actually NOT good!

I saw this movie yesterday expecting a b-grade slasher. Even the lowest expectations weren't exceeded in this crap-fest. Clearly a movie made by a bunch of high school students who had way more fun making it than I had watching it. I keep wondering how this got distributed. Who took this home video and decided to put it on the shelves of video stores. I rented this in Blockbuster, for crying out loud! So anyway. Besides from REALLY bad acting and totally lack of believable characters, a story line so clichéd you wont believe it, and really bad special effects (childish rubber masks.... And what's with the eye-popping? It looks so fake, and they used it twice during the movie...) Besides all that... No... There are no redeeming qualities in this movie whatsoever. None...

This can only be recommended to friends of the cast - and even they will have a hard time believing that ANYONE would participate in the making of this nonsense!

    Please avoid this movie!

Please avoid this movie! Do not spend any of your money on buying or renting this movie because you will regret it for the rest of your life. The Dead of Night is so bad that i'm even not able to laugh at the awful acting, the awful directing, the awful story and the awful filming. Instead I felt ashamed on behalf of the people who made it. If you cannot decide whether to lick a wall or see The Dead of Night, then go lick a wall because it's way more exciting. Before I saw this movie, I thought that I had seen some very bad movies, but now I know that I hadn't. Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, is 10 times better than The Dead of Night, and that says it all.

A beautiful depiction of the human condition

And so it is that, after over a century of film history, the medium has finally reached its zenith in this, unquestionably the greatest film ever made. No small feat you might say, and you'd be right to do so. Why, such classics such as 1983's seminal movie, Krull, or even that masterpiece of cinema Dungeons and Dragons (2000) must represent the peak of film-making! But even these pale in comparison when held up to The Dead of Night. There. I said it. In fact, such is the sheer genius of this film that Krull and Dungeons and Dragons barely deserve to be mentioned within the same review.

Alas, however, for I must confess that I have not seen The Dead of Night in its entirety; the tears of sheer joy that it drew from me blurred my vision, and such was its power that I could hardly stand to be in the same room as the film for more than five minutes at a time. This is not a fault of the movie, rather it is a fault in me, and in all humanity, for truly this film is astonishingly ahead of its time, and at present it is quite impossible to take in the truths that it reveals to us. That we have been blessed with such a film is remarkable. Every aspect of it has changed my life; the depiction of the zombies; the chaotic yet hypnotic editing; the purposely bad music with its varying degrees of ironic usage; the mumbled, incomprehensible dialogue (for the filmmakers knew that if we were to have heard what was being said, our heads would quite literally have exploded from the sheer beauty of the speech); the script! My God, you have never heard anything like this script before! ... This, surely, is a film for the ages.

No life is complete without a viewing of The Dead of Night, no review for an almost unbelievably, spectacularly awful film complete without a *lot* of sarcasm =P

    No really, it's true

There are no words on this planet, in any language known to man, beast or alien alike that can describe this movie. I know, I know ... we all have an opinion about the worst movie ever. We're all aware that Batman and Robin sucked balls and that Torque made our eyes bleed, but this is it. We have found it. 'The Dead of Night' (2004) is without doubt the worst 'thing' (It's not a movie) that I have ever seen.

Why for the love of (insert name of any worshipped deity here) would anyone spend the time and effort to design an attractive VCD box for this. It looked alright. Honest. Why couldn't you have watched the movie first, BEFORE designing the VCD cover sleeve. If you had of watched it first then the cover might have read: Please put down this VCD, you are holding the thief of time and brain cells.

If you are reading this and you dispute my comments and you still believe that there is a worse movie out there, then this can only mean one thing. You have not seen it yet.

    Cheesy but still great!

I know, I know this movie is cheesy and horrible. The acting is so bad. The direction is worse. The special effects are not so special, but I love this movie. I owned it on one of the terrible 20 horror movie on 4 discs compilation. My dog broke the disc with this movie on it and it makes me sad. I wish there had been more explanation as to how the escaped patient was connected. I do like that they were trying to compare being one of the popular kids, trying to be like everyone else is akin to being possessed and the kids that didn't were outcast. But yeah, I like the movie.
