Alex Van Hagen in Sunland Heat (2004)

Trivia

Sunland Heat

Edit
Loren Avedon had been part of the film's conception and was set to appear in it, but pulled out during pre-production and was replaced by J.J. Perry. Avedon's reasons for leaving included misgivings about Alex Van Hagen being cast in the lead role.
Director Halder Gomes utilized Brazil's tax incentive program for cinema to finance the film, but had to personally convince investors to put up money. His investors included a shoe company, a juice company, a textile company, a sunglasses store, a construction material shop, an electrical company, and a telephone company.
A lengthy fight scene was planned between Halder Gomes and J.J. Perry, but Gomes required surgery prior to filming and could not perform as anticipated. In the end, his character is simply beaten up.
The film was shot in four weeks.
Director Halder Gomes intended to cast Athena Massey, Matthias Hues, and Cynthia Rothrock (from whom he even received a letter of intent) in the film, but the unexpected length of pre-production and other problems moved him to cast locally, instead.
