Outrageous Fortune follows the dysfunctional West family living in Auckland. The members of the dysfunctional West family are career criminal Wolfgang West. His wife Cheryl. Their four children: idiotic Van. Van's identical corrupt lawyer brother Jethro. Dumb blonde Pascale and the manipulative Loretta and Wolfgang's father, retired criminal and widower Ted. The West family are turned upside down when Wolfgang is arrested by police officer Detective Sergeant Wayne Judd for criminal activities and gets tried and sentenced for 4 years imprisonment. Wolfgang's arrest and imprisonment convinces Cheryl that it it's time for the family to give up a life of crime and become a honest and better family. But, a selfish Cheryl cheats on Wolfgang and begins a sexual affair with Judd.
