This is Tundra's only traditionally animated short that is produced by them and presented & distributed for schools by the New York-based Scholastic Entertainment.
This is Tundra's only production to not feature any humans.
This is Tundra's first production with the female lead, in case the short's titular fruit bat. The other being as In Search of Santa (2003).
As of January 2020, this was Rachel Koretsky & Stephen Whitestone's last roles as animation writers, and their only one to not be a original (Koretsky's second adaptation, with the first being as the MS-DOS version of Mario's Time Machine (1993); Whitestone's second adaptation, with the first being as Piper (1996)) and their only one not to set in a Christmas/Winter-theme.
This is the third adaptation of Janell Cannon's illustrated book. The first being as Iconographic in an Reading Rainbow (1983) episode (Stellaluna (1994)), and the prior to which as an Animated Living Books adaptation.
