This experimental film was shot based on a 16-page script with a budget of 20,000 euros from Lanthimos' personal funds. Four hours of footage were filmed, and after editing with the editor, a 90-minute film was produced. It is the first film in which Lanthimos, together with editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis, developed a distinctive shared cinematic language following their experience in commercials.
One of the main actors, Aris Servetalis, also features in director Yorgos Lanthimos' later film Alps.
