The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 11, 2007. While all Paskowitz family members were scheduled to attend, four brothers were stuck in New York, as bad weather in both New York and Toronto prevented them from getting on the plane.

Director Doug Pray found Dorian Paskowitz an extremely difficult person to interview. Pray decided not to use surf music in this film because he doesn't consider it to be a documentary on surfing.

David Paskowitz was the first person interviewed for this documentary.

Shot over the course of five weeks.
