A few years after the original series went off the air, a Ray Donovan spinoff was in the works entitled The Donovans, but the Guy Ritchie project has changed dramatically. Ray Donovan starred Liev Schreiber as the eponymous "fixer" who makes a living by getting rid of the problems of his rich and famous clients in Los Angeles. Across its seven seasons on the air, Ray Donovan became one of Showtime's greatest original programs, and continues to have a strong fanbase even years after its conclusion.

The Associate: Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren & Pierce Brosnan in final talks to star in Guy Ritchie series
A new show at Paramount Plus which began life as a Ray Donovan spinoff series is in the final stages of securing itself one hell of a cast. Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan are in final negotiations to star in The Associate from director Guy Ritchie. Wowza.
Should the trio sign on the dotted line, Deadline hears that Tom Hardy would star as Harry, the fixer, “a man who is as dangerous as he is handsome.” Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan would also star as the crime family’s matriarch and patriarch.
Previously, The Associate was believed to be a Ray Donovan spin-off called The Donovans, which had the following synopsis:
“With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner, and while the family might be London’s most elite fixers today,...

It’s always a cultural event when a celebrity is arrested, but often enough, people are willing to forgive someone who has starred in great movies, dazzled as a pro athlete, or recorded favorite hit singles. Justin Timberlake, however, can no longer trade on his history with ‘NSync or his peak as a solo artist to stay in the public’s good graces: when he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons early on Tuesday morning, the resounding consensus on social media was that he deserved the embarrassment.

Exclusive: Steve Michaels, boss of Asylum Entertainment Group, is continuing his Endeavor-backed M&a drive.
The company has invested in British production company Soho Studios Entertainment, founded by former Alaska TV and Zodiak exec Ian Lamarra.
It marks the latest investment for Michaels’ group, which bought a stake in Dawn Airey’s British production company Moon&Back Media last September.
It comes nearly a year after WME owner Endeavor acquired a majority stake in Asylum with plans to “supercharge” its footprint with a major M&a drive that has seen it invest in a number of nonscripted businesses.
Soho Studios was founded by Lamarra in 2022 with former Objective Media Group boss Paul Sandler and Money Group Entertainment CEO Francis Ridley as co-founding directors.
Its first series order was for ITV’s The Playboy Bunny Murder, a two-part documentary series from Marcel Theroux, which told the murders of three young women in London,...

The play, directed by Scott Ellis, is scheduled to begin performances in February 2024 at the American Airlines Theatre. Exact dates and additional castmembers will be announced at a later date.
This is the first Broadway revival of Stanley’s 2004 play, which was adapted into the 2008 film starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The story follows Sister Aloysius (Daly), a principal of an all-boys Catholic school in the Bronx, who suspects a relationship between Father Flynn (Schreiber) and a student. Aloysius must then figure out how to verify whether something has occurred, whether to confront either party about it and how she can reconcile that with her religious beliefs.

This article contains major spoilers for "Barbarian."
We've barely entered the spooky movie season and Zach Cregger's "Barbarian" has already blown the doors off in a big way. It's rare that you come across a movie that keeps its deepest secrets close to its chest in the way that this unpredictable nightmare does. It comes as such a surprise given how Cregger, one of the founding members of "The Whitest Kids U' Know," has only directed one other theatrical feature with "Miss March," which was savagely panned by critics at the time of its release.
"Barbarian" already feels like a formidable addition to the roster of modern horror greats. Those of you who are already privy to this movie's dark secrets know how imperative it is that others walk into it as cold as possible. While Cregger was interviewed by Bloody Disgusting, he stressed how important it was to...

The end has arrived for Showtime’s Ray Donovan series. The popular drama, which ran for seven seasons, wrapped things up Friday night with a two-hour movie that answered a few questions on what made Ray the man he is today.
A film version was necessary thanks to the surprise cancellation after the Season 7 finale, which left fans, star Liev Schreiber, and showrunner David Hollander hanging. After a huge outcry, the decision was made to tie the outstanding threads together and reveal whether the Donovans stand together or go down swinging. After all, Ray doesn’t leave loose ends.
For the uninitiated, Ray Donovan is a professional “fixer” who handles the messy details of illegal activities to protect celebrity clients. The drama also brought out the interactons between Ray’s children, brothers, wife and the menacing patriarch of the family, Mickey, played by Jon Voight, who gets an unexpected release from prison.

“Ray Donovan” showrunner David Hollander was as caught off guard by the show’s cancellation as fans of the show were earlier this week.
“We were used to being a show that was not canceled. We never thought we would be canceled,” Hollander said of the nay-cable network’s surprise decision in an interview with Vulture published on Wednesday. The showrunner said he was given “no indicator” that the show’s fate was in danger. “We were behaving creatively as though we were in mid-sentence. And so, there was no sense that this was going to be a completion. This was in no way a series finale.”
Hollander went on to say that he felt like the conclusion of Season 6 would have made a natural endpoint for the show, but when Showtime commissioned a seventh outing, the writers set up two more seasons of story. Season 8 would have served as the show’s final bow.

Late singer George Michael is the top choice in our recent poll about which male artist most deserves induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2019. The former member of Wham! received 24% of the vote, followed by a tie between Phil Collins and Sting, both with 14%. Those two men are already Hall of Fame members through their bands Genesis and The Police, respectively, but not for their impressive solo careers.
Nominating ballots will be in their hands of actual Hall of Fame committee members in a few weeks. Some male artists who had been consistently snubbed have finally made the cut in recent years. That list includes Neil Diamond (2011), Donovan (2012), Peter Gabriel (2014), Randy Newman (2013), Lou Reed (2015), Steve Miller (2016), Cat Stevens (2014), and Bill Withers (2015). No solo male artists were selected for 2018, however.

Cher just won our recent poll about which female artist deserves induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next. And now on to the men! We’ve got 12 deserving male artists in our new poll below and are asking that you vote who voters should select for the 2019 ceremony. Nominating ballots will be in their hands in a few weeks.
Voters have done a nice job in recent years making up for past snubs. Just some of the men who have waited a while but finally received induction have been Neil Diamond (2011), Donovan (2012), Peter Gabriel (2014), Randy Newman (2013), Lou Reed (2015), Steve Miller (2016), Cat Stevens (2014), and Bill Withers (2015). No solo male artists were selected for 2018, however.
But there are still some severely snubbed male artists who deserve strong consideration for induction next year. Vote in our new poll below to tell us which solo man most deserves to be inducted...

The Rest Of Us Just Live Here – Patrick Ness
Yet more sharp, involving stuff from Patrick Ness whose Chaos Walking trilogy is comfortably one of the best sci-fi series of recent years. (While we’re on the subject, Ness’ A Monster Calls,...
