A new show at Paramount Plus which began life as a Ray Donovan spinoff series is in the final stages of securing itself one hell of a cast. Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan are in final negotiations to star in The Associate from director Guy Ritchie. Wowza.

Should the trio sign on the dotted line, Deadline hears that Tom Hardy would star as Harry, the fixer, “a man who is as dangerous as he is handsome.” Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan would also star as the crime family’s matriarch and patriarch.

Previously, The Associate was believed to be a Ray Donovan spin-off called The Donovans, which had the following synopsis:

Paramount+ has ordered Ray Donovan spin-off The Donovans, Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett will write the series with Guy Ritchie directing.

Over the past few years, Top Boy grew from a fairly niche Channel 4 shows into one of Britain’s biggest dramas, courtesy of a commission from Netflix after Channel 4 cancelled the show after its third series. The fifth ans final series aired last year.

Creator Ronan Bennett has now set his next project. The Donovans will expand on the world of Ray Donovan, the crime drama headlined by Liev Schreieber. It followed the titular character, a fixer who arranges bribes and payoffs for insalubrious individuals. The cast also included Jon Voight, Paula Malcomson, Dash Mihok and Eddie Marsan. It ran for 82 episodes over seven series from 2013 to 2020, which was followed by Ray Donovan: The Movie a television film broadcast in 2022.

Exclusive: Steve Michaels, boss of Asylum Entertainment Group, is continuing his Endeavor-backed M&a drive.

The company has invested in British production company Soho Studios Entertainment, founded by former Alaska TV and Zodiak exec Ian Lamarra.

Billy Miller's mother is speaking out about the circumstances surrounding her son's tragic death.

As previously reported, Miller died at 43 on Friday, September 15, two days before his 44th birthday.

At the time, details about how the daytime TV staple had died were not revealed.

Miller's mother has released the following statement to Soap Opera Digest:

"I want to personally thank the many fans and personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers and condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son Bj — Billy Miller.

"He fought a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease.

"He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren't.

Billy Miller's costars are in mourning following the news of the Young and the Restless and General Hospital star's death at 43.

News of the three-time Daytime Emmy winner's death broke early Sunday morning.

"I'm so sad to hear of Billy Miller's passing," Y&r's Eileen Davidson posted on X.

"His infectious charm and warmth left lasting impressions on all of us who were lucky enough to have him in our lives. Im gonna miss that mischievous smile. Love you Billy."

Tyne Daly and Liev Schreiber will return to Broadway this winter in a revival of John Patrick Stanley’s play Doubt: A Parable.

The play, directed by Scott Ellis, is scheduled to begin performances in February 2024 at the American Airlines Theatre. Exact dates and additional castmembers will be announced at a later date.

This is the first Broadway revival of Stanley’s 2004 play, which was adapted into the 2008 film starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. The story follows Sister Aloysius (Daly), a principal of an all-boys Catholic school in the Bronx, who suspects a relationship between Father Flynn (Schreiber) and a student. Aloysius must then figure out how to verify whether something has occurred, whether to confront either party about it and how she can reconcile that with her religious beliefs.

The end has arrived for Showtime’s Ray Donovan series. The popular drama, which ran for seven seasons, wrapped things up Friday night with a two-hour movie that answered a few questions on what made Ray the man he is today.

A film version was necessary thanks to the surprise cancellation after the Season 7 finale, which left fans, star Liev Schreiber, and showrunner David Hollander hanging. After a huge outcry, the decision was made to tie the outstanding threads together and reveal whether the Donovans stand together or go down swinging. After all, Ray doesn’t leave loose ends.

For the uninitiated, Ray Donovan is a professional “fixer” who handles the messy details of illegal activities to protect celebrity clients. The drama also brought out the interactons between Ray’s children, brothers, wife and the menacing patriarch of the family, Mickey, played by Jon Voight, who gets an unexpected release from prison.

Netflix India is lining up a local adaptation of hit U.S. series Ray Donovan. The crime-action-drama, titled Rana Naidu, will see actor Rana Daggubati sharing screen time for the first time with his uncle Venkatesh Daggubati. Produced by Locomotive Global, the series is an official adaptation of the Showtime series and is due to begin production soon. “Ray Donovan” showrunner David Hollander was as caught off guard by the show’s cancellation as fans of the show were earlier this week.

“We were used to being a show that was not canceled. We never thought we would be canceled,” Hollander said of the nay-cable network’s surprise decision in an interview with Vulture published on Wednesday. The showrunner said he was given “no indicator” that the show’s fate was in danger. “We were behaving creatively as though we were in mid-sentence. And so, there was no sense that this was going to be a completion. This was in no way a series finale.”

Hollander went on to say that he felt like the conclusion of Season 6 would have made a natural endpoint for the show, but when Showtime commissioned a seventh outing, the writers set up two more seasons of story. Season 8 would have served as the show’s final bow.

Late singer George Michael is the top choice in our recent poll about which male artist most deserves induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for 2019. The former member of Wham! received 24% of the vote, followed by a tie between Phil Collins and Sting, both with 14%. Those two men are already Hall of Fame members through their bands Genesis and The Police, respectively, but not for their impressive solo careers.

No solo male artists were selected for 2018, however.

In the field of film 'The Guard' was the big winner of the night receiving the Ifta for Best Film, with writer/director John Michael McDonagh named Best Director, Best Screenwriter and the Irish Film Board Rising Star for his feature directorial debut. Fionnula Flannagan who was honoured with a lifetime achievement award also won best supporting actress for her part in 'The Guard'.
