(at around 15 mins) The type of egg that Mr. Li is seen eating, one containing a fertilized developing egg embryo, is called a Balut. It is a popular street food, notably sold in the Philippines and is also common in China and Southeast Asian countries like Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam. Balut is a relative source of protein and calcium, and is considered by some to be an aphrodisiac for men.
