Just as with the other Biohazards and the first Outbreak game, each scenario has a director, not including End of the Road and Flashback.
The regions that are explored in this game are: The Raccoon City Zoo, The Subway, an abandoned hospital in the middle of the Arkley Mountains, the Raccoon City Police Department, Underground Umbrella Labs and The City Streets and Rooftops.
Between the two Outbreak file games, this is the only one where you can play earned mini levels.
You can transfer all the purchased items in your collection database from Outbreak 1 to Outbreak File 2 without having to recollect and buy them all. A memory card is required.
While Capcom shut down the US online servers for Outbreak File 2 on December 31 2007, and the JP servers on June 30, 2011, fans have created a replacement server for the JP version. The server was reverse-engineered by capturing the information communicated between the game and the server while it was still running. However, because the different regions used different matchmaking services, and packets were only captured for the JP version, they have not been able to create a server compatible with the US version of the game.
