If you look closely at the cover art you see that the puppet Charlie is carried in the bag. In the tradition, when children have been naughty, they are taken to Spain (prisoned in the bag for carrying) by Saint Nicholas and Black Pete to never be seen again.
Unlike many other TV productions this production features the traditional Black Pete, which in 2019 was surveyed to be the most popular variant. The less popular brown colored version is also featured in this production. Some front cover art designs however only show the brown version instead of the traditional black version. At least the original back cover shows both the brown and traditional black colored versions.
This special holiday series featuring Black Pete sold 77.000 units in the first two months. This means the series was already a very big success for a Dutch home video release when it first came out.
Evert, who was seen in a few guest roles in the mother series "Bassie & Adriaan", has a bigger supporting role in this series.
