No emotional rescue.

Jean-Pierre Mocky , let's write it again ,is an acquired taste ?who sometimes comes up with an offbeat interesting curio,but some of his movies are sheer rubbish ."Le bénévole" is a couldn't-care-less effort , coarse, disjointed and I dare you to laugh more than twice ,at best .

A warning before the cast and credits tells us that the volonteers have to be praised and the movie's got nothing against them .I 've been myself a volunteer in various associations for years and yet Mocky making a burlesque farce dealing with them was fine with me. Sadly ,in spite of good wasted actors (Serrault) , "le bénévole" is a mess , a dull movie with a good potential but devoid of humor ; a dreadful hodge-podge of absurd ideas : volunteers demanding to be paid, founding an union , the Church associations fighthing the heathen ones?

One can save a good gag : the future manager of the charity organization "Rescue" leaving his wife and family to help his fellow man and actually flying to Buenos Aires with his lover....and replaced by a guy escaped from an insane asylum ;a good beginning;then it's downhill.
