    Lacked the Necessary Suspense

This film opens with a young man named "Brendan Young" (Marquis Houston) taking his girlfriend "Serena" (Brooklyn Sudano) on a trip from Los Angeles to a remote countryside spot for her birthday. Also riding with them are their good friends "Darryl Jennings" (Omarion) and his girlfriend "Kimmy" (Alexis Fields), who plan to have fun at his uncle's cabin. When they arrive, they're greeted by three more couples invited to the party. At first, everything goes smoothly, and everyone enjoys themselves. But things turn worse when two couples decide to go outside that night and don't return. Naturally, thinking they just got lost in the woods, Brendan, Darryl, and "Seth" (Christopher Jones) go out to look for them-and that's when they realize something very bad has happened. I won't reveal more, but I'll say this: the movie started off well enough, but it quickly declined after about the first 30 minutes, mainly because of the lack of suspense throughout most of the film. In addition to that, although the acting wasn't too bad, I have to confess that I don't ever recall watching a movie in which the characters, especially Brendan, were so incapable of making a correct decision. It was almost laughable. Be that as it may, although this wasn't a terribly bad slasher film, it's not something I would necessarily recommend, and I have rated it accordingly.

    very good for its kind

I thought the acting wasn't' bad at all. Of course we are taking into consideration that for most of the actors, it was their first time in a horror. The plot was not very catchy but kept the viewer interested. Evident that Marques was a better actor than Omari. Some of the actors that were main characters did not get enough screen time and at times the repetition of an idea was exaggerated to the point it got annoying but definitely a scare. While it will not win any awards, SOMEBODY is very good. And better than AX 'EM. Far, far better. But it had a kind of 'SAW' feel to it too. I don't want to spoil things too much!!! Overall good job Chris Stokes! Looking forward to more.

    HOSTEL in the deep woods

Several couples descend on a cabin in the woods for a little R&R Unfortunately, there is a mad killer on the loose and he starts picking them off one by one. We get to see some nifty torture sequences straight out of HOSTEL. The acting is strictly from hunger, but what else is new in the slasher category? The novelty of this inexpensive, 80s-style horror flick is that some of the couples are black and the story is largely seen through the eyes of two black guys. Too much wandering around the woods, which is standard for this type of movie, to help pad out the running time. While it will not win any awards, SOMEBODY is watchable. And better than AX 'EM. Far, far better.

Somebody PLEASE help them... with this movie.

No creative drive behind the well-worn "teens being stalked in the cabin in the woods" narrative from the slasher subgenre. Characters not written with enough depth or aspects/qualities to make the audience sympathize with and/or care about them. Uninteresting protagonist or antagonist. The open ending is no fun at all, made for the sole purpose of leaving a chance for a sequel. (Which of course happened) The tone was handled alright but the pacing is rather dull. Acting is lackluster, below average/solid at best. Filmed decent though some scenes were not lit well. Generic horror film music/score. Overall, the film's a bore, doing nothing to distinguish itself in the slasher genre.

    Not bad at all...

It was logical for it to premiere on halloween. I wish there had been more content instead of a lot of filler that took away from the horror. Still, not bad I did enjoy it and thought it was worth watching.

Overall good job Chris Stokes! Looking forward to more.

Sheriff Bob: What's goin' on here, boys?

Darryl Jennings: All of our friends are missing.

      Sheriff Bob: Missing?

Brendan Young: Yeah, we can't find 'em anywhere.

Kimmy: They could be dead for all we know.

Sheriff Bob: Woah, hold on a sec now. Now you're tellin' me they're dead?

Darryl Jennings: No, sir, she's exaggeratin'.

Brendan Young: Look, sir, we lost our friends and we just need your help findin' them, that's all.

Sheriff Bob: You sure they didn't just go home?

Kimmy: They didn't just go home, the car they came is still parked out front!

Sheriff Bob: All right. Can you give me a description of what your friends look like?

      Kimmy: White.
