    Did the impossible

A great episode without Archie. Another solid script. The other cast all get more screen time. Stretch & Boom Boom are terrific. Gloria Leroy makes a funny 2nd appearance now as Archie's fellow worker. Stretch is "The King of Comedy" with his corny jokes. A great cast recent addition. Jean Stapleton looks very thin.

Has Archie run off with another woman?

Mike and Gloria suspect Archie has run off with a busty receptionist named Mildred "Boom Boom" Turner.

Still no Archie but an OK episode. Stretch Cunningham makes another appearance and tells the family about Boom Boom. She finally appears (played by Gloria LeRoy) and she has some funny moments. She reveals she is running off with her boyfriend but it is definitely not Archie, who she thinks is a klutz and she says "Why would I wanna be with Archie Bunker? Why would any woman wanna be with Archie Bunker?"

    • Trivia
The photo of Archie and Boom-Boom at the company picnic was taken from season three's The Threat (1972) (Gloria LeRoy had also guested on that one), with Archie and Bobbie Jo Loomis sitting on the couch. A different background was set into it for this episode.
    • Goofs
Gloria doesn't recognize Stretch but she knew him in the prior season.
