Developing the doctor
In this episode, Seeley Booth announces that he had worked with Bones before - we'll see that in a later episode (Season 5) as they tell the story of how they met. (I LOVED that episode!!!)
You can tell the characters are loosely developed. This episode got me interested in watching the rest, and it's become one of my favorite shows. Booth and Bones have chemistry from this beginning episode, and it only grows over the years.
Excellent!
I Was Told That This Was Good, but...
The pilot episode establishes the heroine as a no-nonsense kick-as girl who is a martial arts expert who is also a crack shot with a gun. Taking an FBI agent down is no problem for her. Does that want to make you puke?
Hold the gag reflex. Every character is good looking and in the age range of 25 to 40. The market research team created the cast with no thought of realism.
Okay, it is a pilot so the producers need to be blunt to get the green light, but I'm hoping for better to come.
Overall, this is far too stereotypically an American cop show.
Now you can puke.
Great
It was pretty good but I've always found it odd that she's the opposite of the usual brain person that we always see in shows.. usually the person is smart but completely useless when it comes to physical contact.. that's why Castle was a hit.. the detective girl was the brawn and castle was the "brain" but here brennan if pretty much both asides from being a big inept socially speaking but overall great story.
About the senate scene
6 is given because and to record particularly bad moments. Like in the pilot. When bones is speaking to the senator.
Usually the camera will focus on the person that is doing the talking. So in a conversation, the camera will switch from one person to the other depending on who's talking. This is What usually happens in the show as well. Except in this scene.
Maybe they had to dub in Some dialogue or something... But in the senate scene the camera does the opposite. The results is so jarring it's impossible not to notice.
Stiff and Stagy

- TriviaWhile trying to convince Booth to let her have full participation in the case, Brennan says the nearest forensic anthropologist after her is in Montreal. The Brennan character in Kathy Reichs' novels, after whom the character in the show is named, works in Quebec.
- GoofsAt the start of the episode, a plane is shown touching down in an airport with the Nation's Capitol in DC visible in the background; the scene is identified as Dulles International Airport. The Capitol is not visible during landing at Dulles Airport. Both the landing sequence and later shots inside the airport appear to be Reagan National Airport, which would be more likely given its proximity to later events.
- Quotes
[Booth and Bones are looking in a lake for a body]
Dr. Temperance Brennan: What, exactly, am I supposed to be *squinting* at?
Special Agent Seeley Booth: It's like pornography - you'll know when you see it.
