A really good Thanksgiving episode, the best being the one with all the football, but this episode showcases what it feels like in your 20s when your blood family doesn't get together for the holidays and you bond with your friend family. One thing that has always annoyed me is the underlying feminism the lesbian characters incessantly play up, when we meet Susan Bunch, the overly obnoxious man-hating life partner of Ross' ex wife she greets him at the door and he asks if she has seen his skull that was left there by accident, she responds "what does it look like?" Ross explains it looks like "a head with the skin missing" and she retorts "I'm familiar with the concept" in a snide tone...like completely negating the fact she asked him to describe it. Anyway, I love Monica's story line this episode as the true matron of the group trying to appease everyone. Phoebe with the beginnings of her using her past experience with her mother to guilt the group into getting her way and Rachel's bratty struggle to choose a pampered life over hard work. Season one is so good any episode is a great place to start.
Plot In A Paragraph: When everyone's plans fall through Monica (Courtney Cox) hosts a Thanksgiving dinner, but things go awry when everyone gets locked out of the girls apartment.
We meet the owner of Central Perk, a guy named Terry (no surname). We also get a new actress playing Carol, Ross's ex-wife (Jane Sibbett)
Not a great episode, but it had it's moments, Joey's "disease" was funny, and a great excuse to have a Police song to be used, a bit of Sting and Co is never a bad thing.
I thin a lot of effort must have went in to making this look real, as Courtney Cox looked very cold in the scene in the hallway after they have been on the roof

- TriviaFirst appearance of Jane Sibbett as Carol, Ross's ex-wife. She was played by Anita Barone in The One with the Sonogram at the End (1994), but Barone was looking for a role as a series regular and was cast as Karen Foxworthy in The Jeff Foxworthy Show (1995).
- GoofsChandler left the girls' apartment and the door closed. He then came in to announce that Underdog got away without needing a key, so obviously, the door wasn't locked. When everyone ran out to see Underdog, they came back and the door was locked, when it wasn't locked just minutes before.
- Quotes
Dr. Ross Geller: [inspecting the books at Susan and Carol's place] Wow, you guys sure have a lot of books about being a lesbian.
Susan Bunch: Well, you know, you have to take a course... Otherwise they don't let you do it.
