    The Killing Bug

A starry cast that includes Buddy Ebsen and Wayne Rogers. It deals with the aftermath of the Johnson County War in Wyoming. When small ranchers where chased off by hired guns from Texas.

Sheriff Ringo watches three strangers ride into town led by Sample (Ebsen.) Soon a local store keeper is found hanging from a lamppost.

He might not have any proof but Ringo is sure that the three men are involved. The dead man's son Charlie (Rogers) takes revenge at shooting one of the strangers in a bar.

The killing bug has begun. Everyone wants vengeance.

The cycle of killing could only be stopped by Ringo, but it means he has to resort to the gun himself.

There is a moral with the repercussions of these land grabs. There is always an echo from the bitterness.

    • Trivia
'Carter DeHaven's character was listed as "Old Man" in the end credits, even though he was identified as "Luke" numerous times.
    • Goofs
Carter DeHaven plays a lamplighter called Luke several times by Ringo during the episode. In the middle of one of these scenes, in an obvious overdub, Ringo calls Luke "Charlie" - a different character who wasn't introduced until much later in the episode.
    • Quotes

      [first lines]

      Luke: Evening, Johnny.

      Johnny Ringo: Hello, Luke.

      Luke: Closin' up shop?

Johnny Ringo: No, every night seems to be gettin' a little later. Looks like Velardi's growin'.

Luke: Yeah. Pretty soon the first ones will be gettin' up before the last ones go to bed - then you'll have to work around the clock.
