    yaaaaaawn

This episode is probably the most boring of all programs, when set against the original premise, that's ever been made.

Facing some very stiff competition from other episodes of Jonathan Creek, this one really plods along with Alan Davies at his mumbling best.

Maybe the writer was surprised every time this program was renewed for another series, and blagged his way through.

The most creative part of the whole episode is in the title. At that point, the writer must have had a light-bulb moment, and thought he could stretch it out for the required time.

The whole episode is based around a very weak pun for the title, goes steadily and boringly downhill from the start, and continues to further entrench itself in its own dross.

    Clark Kent and Superman?

How can a man be in two places at the same time?

This is a wonderfully clever mystery, one which is well crafted, well reasoned, and very well acted.

As someone who has a little bit of a phobia about time passing by, this one has an extra relevance, I can very much relate to Norman's fear of the passage of time, though not quite as bad.

The side story of Jonathan and his encounter is very funny, as are Maddy's attempts to make him jealous. I also found the scene of Maddy going through Norman's laundry very funny.

Very clever, funny and encourages you to use the grey matter, 8/10.

    • Trivia
The unnamed wino who helps Jonathan and Maddy is played by Rob Jarvis, who also played sacked band member Tex a few episodes previously in No Trace of Tracy (1997). It isn't clear if this is a different character or this is what has become of Tex after losing his livelihood.
