Much of the outside filming was done in Covina, California.
This episode contains an in-joke. The bank robbed at the start of the story is the Bank of R. Gilmer. Rob Gilmer was the writer and co-producer of this episode. Gilmer also refers to it in a note that accompanies his script for the later episode Mouth of the Snake (1984).
The actual script called for much more of the Christmas spirit. One scene has Michael listening to Christmas carols, another calls hopefully for decorations along the street.
The only Christmas-themed episode of the series.
Janet DeMay (Marta) was formerly a regular cast member on Remington Steele (1982), which aired immediately after Knight Rider on NBC during its first season in 1982-83. DeMay's character, Bernice Fox, was routinely called "Miss Wolf" by Steele. DeMay was written out of the show after its opening season (replaced by Doris Roberts).
