    The Senator

Three men arrive in Laramie, they position themselves in the loft of a barn, waiting for their target. One of them is a sharpshooter with a scoped rifle. The Senator. Their plan is to shoot the senator making a brief stop and speech at midnight at the Laramie rail station.

Troop is informed of the impending assassination but no details via telegram. He and Johnny canvas the town for strangers. They find one man at the hotel who is drunk but a second telegram clears him. When one of the men stops at the saloon for a drink and hears Troop is looking for them, his spying on the Marshal's office arouses Johnny's suspicions. He is killed when he tries to ambush Troop.

Quite tense episode with plenty of night shots and set pieces. The finale is a showstopper. Jack Elam plays one of the killers and is in typical thug mode.
