    Off the Wall and Heartfelt

Night Court had a way of being completely zany and off the.wall, then unexpectedly switching the tone to something rather deep and meaningful. Only Night Court could do that. Seasons 1 through 5 are the best in television history, especially Seasons 3 and 4. Seasons 6 and 7 are also very good. Seasons 8 and 9 are NOT good (all the best writers and producers had left the show); do not judge Night Court by Seasons 8 and 9; they are not "Night Court."

The first regular appearance of Christine Sullivan and new bailiff Flo Kleiner

After the end of the original show's 2nd season, Night Court dropped their 3rd public defender Billie Young (Harry Stone's 2nd love interest) in favor of Harry's 3rd love interest Christine Sullivan (played by the late, beautiful Markie Post), who made her first appearance in S2E2. They've also lost Selma Diamond as sarcastic bailiff Selma Hacker, after passing away near the end of the 2nd season, and we get introduced to the court's new bailiff Florence "Flo" Kleiner (played by the late Florence Halop, who would pass away herself near the end of this season).

The episode's plot revolves around Bull losing her co-worker Selma after her passing and him going through his grief of losing her and Christine's first day on the job, delighting Harry and Dan in the process, and Post manages to crush it in her first regular episode, and proves that she belongs in the regular cast!

So for any Markie Post fans that are interested in seeing her as a regular for the first time, then this is the episode to see!

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: [Enters Harry's chambers and sees Harry and Bull hugging] In case you're interested, the music has stopped.

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: [Releases Bull] What can I do for you?

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: I'm here for the job.

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: What job is that?

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: What is this, a wet suit?

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: Oh, well we interviewed for bailiffs last week.

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: I'm late. Now, now do I get the job or what?

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: Well, there are certain things that we do, such as checking references.

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: I don't have any.

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: Well that streamlines things. How about experience?

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: I'm a bailiff.

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: For how long?

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: A hundred and six years.

      [Bull walks over to her]

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: What's with the hair?

      [Referring to Bull's bald head]

Baliff Nostradamus 'Bull' Shannon: [Bull looks at Harry] I know he looks funny but don't say anything about it.

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: You... are a weird man.

Baliff Nostradamus 'Bull' Shannon: [Chuckles, then turns to Harry] Can I keep her Harry?

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: Why do I suddenly feel like a hamster?

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: It's a long story.

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: I don't want to hear it.

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: You're hired.

      [Bull snorts with joy]

Judge Harold T. "Harry" Stone: Bull, do you want to show her around?

Baliff Nostradamus 'Bull' Shannon: Come on. I'll go show you where we stand eight hours a night.

      Bailiff Florence Kleiner: I quit.

Baliff Nostradamus 'Bull' Shannon: You can lean on me if you want.

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: Well, how about if I just hang a swing on your arm?

Baliff Nostradamus 'Bull' Shannon: All right.

      [Leaves]

Bailiff Florence Kleiner: [to Harry] I'll be needing a raise.
