The film opens with a four-line poem by Philip Larkin which reads
"Sexual intercourse began
In nineteen sixty-three....
Between the end of the Chatterley ban
And the Beatles' first LP."
The film closes with the title song of The Beatles' first UK album, "Please Please Me"
About one hour into the film (running time 90 minutes) the audience sees the two leads making love with the soundtrack playing The Shirelles recording of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?". The timing is almost exactly correct. This recording was released in November of 1960, and the Chatterley obscenity trial ended on November 2, 1960. As the song is not "in universe", that is not being heard on a radio or TV broadcast, this should not be regarded as a goof.
