The song was originally recorded by the group Manfred Mann in 1965 and first appeared on their "No Living Without Loving" EP in 1965 which was #1 on the UK charts for 7 weeks. Other than a few "Greatest Hits" or "Best of..."-type compilations, the song itself never appeared on any of the group's official albums before they disbanded in 1969.
