Rune (2006)

Trivia

Rune

Edit
The idea for the film came about during the 53rd Cannes Film Festival. On a long walk on the beach director Arayna Thomas, having trouble overcoming the language barrier, began musing about a dormant ability that humans might have that could make universal comprehension possible if it were possible to penetrate it.
An entire other script driven by this concept of an innate ability by all human beings to be able to understand each other stemming from the theory that all modern languages grew out of an original first language (Urlanguage) was written first before Executive Producer David Veloz came on board.
Arayna met David Veloz through a friend based in NYC just as she was moving out to LA, Veloz was interested in the concept and began the collaborative relationship by shepherding the screenwriters Arayna Thomas and S.E. Kenlon as they began a different draft which took place against an international backdrop with a mystery narrative driving the Urlanguage concept.
The shoot was long, by low budget independent standards, lasting 16 weeks with additional footage shot in Los Angeles by the filmmakers after principal photography had wrapped.
In the meantime S.E. Kenlon & Arayna Thomas won free special F/X from Santa Monica & San Francisco based CGI Company RADIUM for their short film "CORNERED" which placed 1st in the category of fiction video at the International Mexican Film Festival Expresión en Corto in 2003 this addition to the film's package helped attract the film's investors as well as later when the crew was hired on a deferred payment basis.
