    What a load of cobblers!

I went to a free screening of this on Thursday evening, and I have to say I was more amused at the number of people who walked out than the film itself. It was embarrassingly bad, from the opening credits right through to the end. The story itself could have been told in 15 minutes. Certain scenes were far too long and painful to watch. The editing was appalling! The acting I'm not gonna even comment on. We were asked to fill in a questionnaire at the end, and i have to say that was just as painful! I rated the film as fair and i was being quite generous there. Giving it two stars here is being generous as well, but its not quite as bad as a 1 star film! I think Faye Tozer from Steps has a great future in acting though! NOT! Only see this film at a free screening, or wait till they're giving it away as a free DVD in a newspaper because you really don't want to be wasting any money watching this!

    Dreadful. Irredeemable. Abysmal.

    Dreadful.

    Irredeemable.

    Abysmal.

Cant believe i cant score it a 0. They owe me the £3.60 i spent to watch this rubbish. And the hour and a half of my life i wasted. Multiply that by 2 cos i took my other half. i should have known better seeing that fraudster mp's missus on the cast list. Only went to see the film because a mate lifted the set and wanted to see how it was used.

    Very disappointing.

    Total rubbish.

I laughed a lot at this film

I don't know what these other guys are saying, but I was at the same screening and I laughed all the way through. Phil Cornwell was ALWAYS in character and I think he could be the new Sid James!! James Fleet was brilliant, Caroline Harker was a true 'English Rose' and Nick Holder was great as the small town heavy. The plot was pretty main stream in a 'Stick it to the Man' kind of way, and this is the kind of comedy that the Americans love. I was sat behind a bunch of students (I think two of them have commented here) and they did nothing but yak all the way through, obviously they want to see the next Mr Bean catastrophe rather than a plucky little British independent comedy which took the theme of 'Super Casinos' and spun it into a fun little farce which just played for laughs. By the way, the script was GREAT but I think this film has some subtle adult themes which the average smelly student wouldn't recognize.

By the way, FAYE TOZER LOOKS FABULOUS NAKED!!!!!

    Funnier than most films lately

I give it a ten because it's not a remake, cartoon, or film version of a lousy TV series, which is about all that is made anymore. No computer animation, no blood/gore, no breasts for the sake of breasts scenes, and hey, it's not the result of a 20 year old deciding to make a live action version of something like Scooby Doo. I was at the premiere and I don't recall being asked to fill out a questionnaire, though it's possible. There is no cheap humor here. I imagine it would appeal mainly to people over 30, or at least those who don't need the usual tired T&A jokes and graphics to laugh. All of the actors were quite funny, and I didn't see the jokes coming a mile away. Listening to people after the show, the worst I heard was that it had a bit of a slow start, but then was very good. That isn't exactly an insult either.

OK light Fluff, Not as bad as some of the reviews so far

Being a big fan of all thing British and James Fleet since The Vicar of Dibley days, I read all of the reviews on here before taking the opportunity to see this on DVD.

While I have seen far better and this is not the best of movies by a long shot it is definitely not as bad as made out by some of the reviewers on this site.

I give it a 5 out of 10, mainly based on the acting of James Fleet, Caroline Harker and Phil Cornwell.

I have been fan of Caroline Harker since her days in A Touch of Frost and she does quite nicely in this. Not the greatest bit of British movie making but still OK and worth hiring if you get the chance and like British farce type movies.
