FAQ

The Initiation of Sarah

Twins Sarah (Mika Boorem) and Lindsey (Summer Glau) Goodwin are off to their first year at Temple Hill University, where their mother Trina (Morgan Fairchild) was once president of the Alpha Nu Gamma (ΑΝΓ) sorority, now led by Corrine (JoAnna Garcia Swisher). Lindsey wants nothing more but to be accepted by ΑΝΓ, but Sarah is torn between ΑΝΓ and another sorority, Pi Epsilon Delta (ΠΕΔ), led by one of Sarah's professors, Dr. Eugenia Hunter (Jennifer Tilly). Sara soon learns that ΑΝΓ and ΠΕΔ are bitter rivals, but both seem desperate to initiate Sarah into their respective sororities, because Sarah is "the One."

The Initiation of Sarah is a remake of a 1978 TV movie also titled The Initiation of Sarah (1978), which was based on a story and screenplay by American screenwriters Carol Saraceno, Tom Holland, Kenette Gfeller, and Don Ingalls. The 1978 movie was adapted for the remake by Saraceno, Holland, and Daniel Berendsen.

Sarah allows Dr Hunter to initiate her into ΠΕΔ after which she and her sorority sisters descend upon ΑΝΓ in an attempt to save Lindsey from being sacrificed as the One. While the sisters stand outside the ΑΝΓ house, casting a containment spell to keep the ΑΝΓ sisters from leaving the house, Sarah goes inside to find Lindsey shackled to an altar and Corrine about to stab her with the sacrificial knife. After a short battle during which Corrine pins Sarah to the wall, Sarah manages knock out Corrine long enough to free Lindsey from the shackles. Corrine then causes the shackle chain to wrap around Sarah's neck, strangling her. Lindsey picks up the knife and, after cutting her palm in order to put her blood on the knife, uses it to stab Corrine in the back. As Sarah and Lindsey hug each other, Corrine sneaks up behind Lindsey and stabs her in the back. Sarah thrusts Corrine into the flames, which consume Corrine and begin spreading around the room. Sarah carries Lindsey back to ΠΕΔ house, and Dr Hunter locks away the knife. In the final scene, Sarah and her ΠΕΔ sisters head out together to find the rest of the ΑΝΓs, while Esme (Tessa Thompson) is shown walking away, carrying with her a bit of the eternal fire.
