For all the attempts at evoking such, there could have been more laughs

This is one of several NP2K films that was made by multiple of the site's frequenters... rather than, as usual, the frequenter and their own group; a collaboration. This has(from what I could tell from the credits, the editing of Eric Branco, but the listing here doesn't seem to agree) the direction of Bryan Harley and the writing of Adam Bertocci. Of them, it is the last(sorry, guys) that I could recognize the most. The mix is interesting enough to watch, and I personally disagree with the votes of 1... I realize that every time there's a title here on the site with a low ranking and/or a bad rep, there's at least one review with the sentiment(many times, even as a summary) "it wasn't *that* bad...", so I'm not going to add to that. Instead, I'll say that this could have been a lot worse, even if it could also have been better. As has been said, a lot of the comedy is forced. This never is quite as funny as it tries to be, but it does bring some good stuff, and the writing has at least two references that people who know Adam will get(and if you've got no clue who the guy is, you may still, they're not really in-jokes). The plot isn't bad, the idea behind it is perhaps the most memorable aspect of this. Acting varies. Keep your eyes open for a Harley regular or several. Editing and cinematography do the job, but they could have been more engaging. I recommend this to fans of off-beat, quirky comedy, particularly that of Adam's... just know that the people who made this have done finer work elsewhere. 5/10

    Unimagintive fan boy pandering

It saddens me to find a group of people with so many resources at their fingertips* produce something so bland, unoriginal and unfunny as this. The camera feels like it is chained to the ground on every shot and the framing never dares to explore territory outside of a romantic comedy. Never once was I impressed with an angle or shot in this movie. You have to ask yourself a question, why did I bother making this if it wasn't going to be any different then the next Kate Hudson film? What's the point, what are you adding to people's cinematic language? Don't we have enough "standard" run of the mill films, please do not add insult to boredom.

Adam's writing is also as unfortunate. Why do young male writers always try to create a woman character that talks and acts like a man, this perfect love interest who is basically a woman playing a man masquerading as a woman? Adam, she doesn't exist and you need to stop writing about her. I was a fan of "Love" which was a project that was self-aware and interesting, and then I watch this aborted mixed breed of American Pie and Kevin Smith, I wonder what happened. The characters are one-dimensional and offensive (the homeless character is inexcusable). The resolution for Dana's problem is even more offensive to the viewer. I am hoping good things for Adam's "World" movie, but viewing this does not excite me.

Leave the TV sitcom moralizing and lesson learning for the WB network.

*yes compared to many of us, pulling off a production this size is unfathomable

Would had been much better without all of that forced comedy.

This movie its weakness is its humor. The movie at times goes way over-the-top, in an attempt to make the viewer laugh out loud. The writing of the movie is not bad and fun enough of its own. It didn't really needed those forced comedy moments to make a good enjoyable comedy. The movie would had worked out way better with a more of a Wes Anderson kind of approach of film-making. The sort of non-forced way of trying to be funny but still have all the quirky kind of characters in it. Sounds weird coming from a guy who isn't even a Wes Anderson fan.

The main lead actors all did a good job considering and they were given some good dialog to work with.

The camera-work and editing were all good enough, as was it's overall style. Nothing to renewing or spectacular but it served its purpose well all.

No, it's not a bad movie now and it's simply enjoyable enough but also a bit too lacking and too clumsy put together all, to take this really serious as a professional/serious attempt of creating a short film, though the intentions for it were definitely there.

    6/10
