Before the film released a large protest was carried out in Amitabh Bachchan's hometown Allahabad; as protesters were unhappy to see superstar Amitabh Bachchan romancing a 18 year old, and felt this was totally unacceptable in the Indian culture.
Amitabh Bachchan denied in an interview on 'CNN IBN TV show' that this movie is inspired by Vladimir Nabokov's novel 'Lolita'.
The film's shooting was complete within a month.
After the release of the movie, Director 'Ram Gopal Verma' was served with a High Court notice for infringement of the movie title by award winning Bengali filmmaker Jahar Kanungo, whose similarly-titled film Nisshabd (2005) won the Cinemaya Best Film and Best Actress award in 2004
This movie shows the exact same scheme of a French film called Un Moment d'Egarement, made in the late seventies.
