Better than anything in King Kong 2005.

This is Peter Jackson's reenactment of the lost 'spider pit' sequence that was excised from the 1933 King Kong for being too gruesome.

It's only six minutes long, and made to match the antiquated look and feel of the original, but this loving recreation of the legendary lost Kong footage is better than anything in Jackson's bloated 3-hour remake of 2005. The creatures are suitably creepy and scary, and the grisly demises of the poor explorers are shocking (no wonder that the censors took their scissors to the original).

Since this is the closest to the original missing scene that we're ever likely to see, it's essential viewing for fans of the first (and still the best) King Kong.

The disturbing impact this scene wud have done in the 30s man.

Came across the name of this title while reading BA_Harrison's reviews. I trust this guy's reviews for horror films. Wasnt aware that there was a scene of the spider's pit which was chopped from the original King Kong. PJ's King Kong's pit/worm scene is creepy n disturbing too. Wasnt aware that PJ had done the reenactment of the original pit scene. Saw this 6 mins film on YouTube n I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very creepy n very disturbing. Imagine the impact this scene must have done on fellas in the 30s.

    my idea if spider pit

somehow i herd about this Spider Pit scene from KING KONG 1933, but i herd that peter Jackson did great, but i think there's a miss problem i found the tentacle bug and giant spider were put into "The Black Scorpion 1959" there for. I herd that they found a 33MM film reel that was discovered in the UK, somehow i think that they're not telling us the true if they did have found the spider footage in UK thank to someone named Joiner Ross McMillan. i'd did a storyline for a new Recreation of the spider pit scene and put more pit monsters into it along with Kong's fight with the Triceratops scene. also i think i can help them with the new reaction of the spider footage with a little help from me with some notes i've written down for what it they said in the 1933 film. i hope someday the footage will turned up soon

The scene that you didn't know about from the original Kong.

In the original Kong, there was originally a scene where the crew members would be fighting off some spiders in a large pit they fell from the trunk that Kong was tilting around.

According to the filmmaker's resource, this scene was not included from the original release of Kong, due to it's violent content. The footage of this scene was never revived or seen again.

During the production of Jackson's King Kong, he and his crew decide to reenact this scene by following the original draft script that describes the scene, and use the same technology they used for the original Kong including Stop-Motion creatures and Black and White camera.

After research and reconstructing the forgotten sequences, the results of this scene are superb. It may not be exact scene that was filmed over 70 years ago. But I'll give Mr. Jackson an A for effort in giving us a great visual on this deleted scene.

To this day, the whereabouts of the original footage are unknown. We may never know as it's a long lost piece of cinema history.

    Made Me Nauseous

Yeah, this little short made me wanna vomit, it was so horrific! Which is why it was great, since it obviously gave me the effect PJ probably wanted it to give me. I could hardly contain my stomach when the giant black and white spider came out and seemed to break the guy's back, it just made me so sick and horrified! In case you don't know, this film is a rendition of what the cut-out "spider-pit" scene from the original 1933 Kong was like. The scene was cut out from the original due to it being too gruesome, and judging from this little clip, I can fully understand why! The crew also did a great job on this clip, it seemed to come straight from the original movie! I actually thought it was from the original 1933 Kong until someone here on IMDb told me it wasn't. But still, this clip is very great, horrifying, and feels just like it came from the original '33 Kong, and it also seems that the filmmakers took a good amount of time and effort into making this awesome little piece. Their work payed off big-time! I give this a 10 out of 10.
