I'm NOT normally a fan of docu-dramas as they are usually SHORT on documentary truth and full of DRAMA...invented by the writers to make it more 'entertaining' for a largely uninterested and uninformed viewer.....this one is REFRESHINGLY not in that group.
It features very little 'real' footage, something that surprised me and made me expect to be disappointed when it was all over.....I was NOT!
The writing was superb and the addition and passion of those descendants of soldiers, doctors, clergy, nurses and loved ones was sufficient to move me to tears.
This should be mandatory viewing for school-aged kids when they are old enough to appreciate the truth and sacrifice of those soldiers and others.
It is particularly relevant if you are Canadian but every culture could learn from the sacrifice made by ALL soldiers....of any nationality..made during the 1914-18 war.
VERY moving and VERY entertaining
I highly recommend it.
P.S. Justin Trudeau plays Papineau...the main Canadian force promoting Canada during this event.
