Grethe Holmer in Karrig Niding (1955)

Trivia

Karrig Niding

Edit
Even though Hieronymus Justesen Ranch (1539-1607) had a lifelong service as priest in a local ministry, he was not allowed in his lifetime to see his writings printed and published. Ranch's vivid descriptions of public life were perceived by the religious orthodox censors of the time to be of too little theological weight. The play "Karrig niding" was first published in 1664.
Karrig Niding became known for centuries as a popular "student's play", performed for example at Studentersamfundet in 1884 and at Regensen as well as in Viborg in 1910.
Arthur Jensen (popularly widest known as Meyer in "Huset på Christianshavn" and as Schwann in "Matador") played the very same part as the sinister Maufferkaal/Magerkaal when this play was first directed for TV by Kai Holm in 1955 and again when directed for TV by Kaspar Rostrup 14 years later in 1969.
