The street door to Julia's apparment building would have to be open to anyone wishing to enter, the door to the building however would have to be locked and opened by buzzing in. The opposite is the case in this movie and is demostrated as Celeste and Chris leave Julia's building. Louise is waiting on the street for someone to let her into the building.
