Orlando Bloom

It is the beginning of the second series and Andy has gone up from being an Extra.

His comedy idea has been taken up by the BBC and it has started shooting. The problem for Andy, the Head of BBC comedy wants it as an old fashioned sit com with silly characters and a catchphrase.

Andy protests but when he sees Barry from Eastenders reduced to stealing food from the canteen, maybe principles should go out of the window to be replaced by a curly wig and a pair of glasses.

Orlando Bloom makes the star cameo appearance, obsessed by his good looks and his hatred of Johnny Depp.

Maggie is repeated shown up by another Extra who has become successful and graduated to smaller parts. Maggie gets to show her up when Orlando asks Maggie to kiss him.

Keith Chegwin plays a racist and homophobic version of himself who has a small part in Andy's sitcom. Keith keeps fluffing his lines and is confused. In real life Keith Chegwin started out as an actor.

Obviously Ricky Gervais must have been inspired by how his proposal for The Office was repeatedly rejigged to be more traditional.

I think we can safely assume Gervais does not rate Lenny Henry as a comedian.

I did wonder if Andy was unhappy with the changes to his comedy script, he would had raised it before shooting had started.
