Barry Jones and Bob Dyer in Pick-A-Box (1957)

Trivia

Pick-A-Box

Edit
This series does not survive in its entirety. Nevertheless, a large number of surviving episodes are held by the Australian National Film and Sound Archive.
As the show was produced by Bob Dyer TV Productions, after it ended, hosts Bob Dyer and Dolly Dyer reviewed many of the archived episodes, retaining a few as souvenirs but discarding most of them. A search of the National Film and Sound Archive's website in October 2021 found that 73 of the over 900 episodes produced survive, including the final episode broadcast on 28 June 1971.
The series first existed as a radio quiz show in 1948, also hosted by Bob Dyer. For around its first five years as a TV series, it continued to be simulcast on radio, making the series a unique case in both Australian radio and TV history.
In 2010, the series was added to the National Film and Sound Archive's Sounds of Australia Registry, being regarded as a cultural icon of Australia.
This series would be replaced on the Seven Network by another quiz show, The Great Temptation (1971).
