Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005)

Quotes

Lake Laogai

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Edit
  • Prince Zuko: [dressed as the Blue Spirit] Uncle?
  • Uncle: So, the Blue Spirit? I wonder who could be behind that mask?
  • Prince Zuko: [sighs and removes mask] What are you doing here?
  • Uncle: I was just about to ask you the same thing. What do you plan to do now that you've found the Avatar's bison? Keep it locked in our new apartment? Should I go put on a pot of tea for him?
  • Prince Zuko: First, I have to get it out of here.
  • Uncle: And then what? You never think these things through. This is exactly what happened when you captured the Avatar at the North Pole. You had him and then you had no where to go!
  • Prince Zuko: I would have figured something out.
  • Uncle: No, if his friends hadn't found you, you would have frozen to death!
  • Prince Zuko: I know my own destiny, Uncle.
  • Uncle: Is it your *own* destiny, or is it a destiny someone else has tried to force on you?
  • Prince Zuko: Stop it, Uncle. I have to do this.
  • Uncle: I'm begging you, Prince Zuko. It's time for you to look *inward* and begin asking yourself the big questions. Who are you and what do *you* want?
  • [Zuko yells in frustration and slams his swords on the ground]
  • Sokka: [while putting up posters] Toph, I guess you should just come with me.
  • Toph: Why? Because you think I can't put up posters on my own?
  • [Glues a poster to the wall]
  • Toph: It's upside down, isn't it?
  • [pause]
  • Toph: I'll just go with Sokka.
  • Smellerbee: You guys go and find Appa. We'll take care of Jet.
  • Katara: We're not gonna leave you.
  • Longshot: There's no time. Just go. We'll take care of him. He's our leader.
  • Jet: Don't worry, Katara, I'll be fine.
  • [Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph walk away]
  • Toph: [softly to Sokka] He's lying.
  • Joo Dee: You are absolutely forbidden by the rules of the city to continue putting up posters.
  • Aang: [very angry] We don't care about th rules, and we're not asking permission! We're finding Appa on our own, and you should just stay out of our way!
  • [first lines]
  • Katara: We found a printer to make our posters!
  • Sokka: Hey, I thought designing the lost Appa poster was my job! I've been working all day on my Appa!
  • [Shows his drawing to Katara and Aang. Katara muffles her laugh]
  • Aang: Sokka, the arrow is on Appa's head.
  • Sokka: This *is* his head.
  • Katara: Why are feet coming out of it?
  • Sokka: Those are his horns!
  • [Hangs his head]
  • Sokka: I haven't seen him awhile okay?
  • Toph: It looks just like him, to me.
  • Toph: Thank you, I worked really... Why do you feel the need to do that?
  • Toph: Yeah! Let's break some rules!
  • [blasts a large chunk out of the house wall]
  • Uncle: So, I was thinking about names for my new tea shop. How about... The Jasmine Dragon? It's dramatic, poetic, has a nice ring to it.
  • Prince Zuko: The Avatar is here in Ba Sing Se, and he's lost his bison.
  • Uncle: We have a chance for a new life here. If you start stirring up trouble, we could lose all the good things that are happening for us.
  • Prince Zuko: Good things that are happening for you. Have you ever thought that I want more from life than a nice apartment and a job serving tea?
  • Uncle: There's nothing wrong with a life of peace and prosperity. I suggest you think about what it is that you want from your life and why.
  • Prince Zuko: I want my destiny.
  • Uncle: What that means is up to you.
  • [Zuko exits]
  • Uncle: The Tea Weevil! No, that's stupid.
  • [last lines]
  • Uncle Iroh: You did the right thing, nephew.
  • [Zuko pulls out the Blue Spirit mask]
  • Uncle Iroh: Leave it behind.
  • [Zuko drops the mask into the lake]
  • Toph: [talking about Jet to Katara] Was this guy your boyfriend or something?
  • Katara: What? No.
  • Toph: I can tell you're lying.
  • Toph: This doesn't make any sense. They're both telling the truth.
  • Katara: That's impossible.
  • Sokka: No, it's not. Toph can't tell who's lying because they both think they're telling the truth. Jet's been brainwashed!
  • Jet: That's crazy. It can't be true. Stay away from me!
  • Jet: You're in no position to bargain.
  • Long Feng: Am I not?
  • Aang: You're definitely not!
  • Long Feng: Jet, the Earth King has invited you to Lake Laogai.
  • Jet: [Jet speaks mechanically] I am honored to accept his invitation.
  • Long Feng: Do your duty, Jet.
  • Aang: He can't make you do this. You're a Freedom Fighter.
  • [Jet has a flashback]
  • Long Feng: Do it. Do it now!
  • [Jet breaks free, then Long Feng attacks him]
  • Long Feng: Foolish boy. You've chosen your own demise.
  • Quon: How would you like to have your own tea shop?
  • Uncle Iroh: [Stunned] My own tea shop? This is a dream come true.
  • Pao: [Interrupting the conversation] What's going on here? Are you trying to poach my tea maker?
  • Quon: Sorry Pao, but that's business for you, am I right?
  • Pao: [Increasingly desperate] Mushi, if you stay, I'll... make you Assistant Manager. Wait, Senior Assistant Manager.
  • Quon: I'll provide you with a new apartment in the upper ring. The tea shop is yours to do whatever you want. Complete creative freedom.
  • Uncle Iroh: [Elated] I even get to name the shop?
  • Quon: Of course.
  • Pao: [Pleading] Uh, Senior Executive Assistant Manager?
  • Quon: Your life is about to change for the better.
  • Prince Zuko: I'll try to contain my joy.
  • Aang: I bet they have Appa here in the city. Maybe he's in the same place they took Jet. Where did they take you?
  • Jet: Nowhere. I-I-I don't know what you're talking about.
  • Aang: We need to find a way to jog his real memories.
  • Sokka: Maybe Katara could kiss him. That should bring something back.
  • Katara: Maybe *you* kiss him, Sokka.
  • Sokka: Hey, just an idea.
  • Aang: A bad one.
  • Sokka: [With the Dai Li closing in on Team Avatar] You think we can outrun them?
  • Aang: I don't think it's gonna matter!
  • [Sure enough, Long Feng and another set of Dai Li agents are in front of them. The agents sprout two rock walls and another set in on the canyon wall, leaving Team Avatar trapped with no means of flying out. But then, Momo flies to Aang]
  • Aang: What is it Momo?
  • [Momo flies up and Appa appears!]
  • Aang: APPA!
  • [Appa rams the Dai Li's rock walls, then Aang and Toph use their own Earthbending to knock the Dai Li agents into the lake]
  • Long Feng: I can handle you myself!
  • [Long Feng is not much of a match for Appa, who bites his leg and throws him into the lake too. The gang cheers as Aang hugs his sky bison with happy tears]
  • Sokka: YEAH! APPA!
  • Aang: I missed you, buddy.
  • Toph Beifong: We're finally leaving Ba Sing Se.
  • [Throws her arms wide happily]
  • Toph Beifong: Worst city ever!
