Exclusive: Seoul Searching director, Benson Lee, is set to direct 20th Century Studios’ Untitled K-Pop feature film from Scooter Braun’s Sb Projects and Epic Magazine.

Story follows a young Asian- American college student from the U.S. who becomes a top competitor on South Korea’s toughest k-pop competition show and chases her dreams of becoming a K-Pop star, despite the disapproval of her family.

Elyse Hollander is attached to write. Braun and James Shin are attached as producers with Scott Manson as executive producer on behalf of Sb Projects. Joshua Davis and Arthur Spector are producing on behalf of Epic Magazine with Epic’s Joshuah Bearman executive producing. John Zaozirny is attached as executive producer on behalf of Bellevue Productions.

The Korean-American director recently received rave reviews for his coming-of-age dramedy Seuol Searching following his directing debut in Battle Of The Year. Lee is represented by WME, Marathon Management and Andrew Hurwitz.

Sony Pictures has tapped Parris Goebel to direct “Murder on the Dance Floor,” an adaptation of her acclaimed street-dance-based production. The movie will mark Goebel’s feature film directorial debut.

In addition to choreographing “Murder on the Dance Floor,” Goebel — famous in the music and dance worlds — directed numerous music videos for such artists as Justin Bieber and Ciara. She also worked with Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Derulo, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, and K-pop stars, such as Cl and Taeyang. The New Zealand-born Goebel has helped develop a unique style known as Polyswagg. Her dance crew the Royal Family won the World Hip Hop Dance Championship on three different occasions.

Elyse Hollander will write the screenplay, which Marc Platt and Adam Siegel from Marc Platt Productions will produce. Platt’s had a lot of experience in the musical realm, having previously overseen “La La Land,” “Into the Woods” and “Mary Poppins Returns.

Before they costarred in the 1996 film Evita, Madonna had a major crush on Antonio Banderas — and he had no clue.

The actor, 59, spoke about the pop singer’s crush on him during an interview on Sirius Xm’s The Jess Cagle Show on Friday while promoting his Pedro Almodovar film Pain and Glory.

She’s “unapologetically indulging all her whims and quirks,” resulting in “her most natural-feeling, progressive and original record” since the aforementioned “Confessions.” It’s an “uncompromising musical statement.”

Fox 2000 Pictures has acquired film rights to an untitled feature film set in the world of korean pop, or k-pop, with Scooter Braun’s Sb Projects and Epic Magazine attached.

Kim Basinger is set to follow in Jessica Simpson's footsteps - her new movie will only be released in Texas at Christmas.

Simpson's film flop Blonde Ambition was a limited release in her native Texas at the end of 2007, and now Basinger is set to follow suit.

Her new picture, While She Was Out, opens in the state on 12 December, ahead of its DVD release in the New Year.

Jessica Simpson's new film Blonde Ambition made less than $400 when it opened in eight Texas theatres on Friday . The movie, which also stars fellow Texan Luke Wilson, was saved from the straight-to-DVD tag by film bosses at Nu Image and Millennium Films, who decided to give it a limited Christmas run. The executives were hoping the fact that both Simpson and Wilson are Texas natives would help give the film a boost, and possibly lead to more interest from cinema chains across America. The film will now be released on DVD in January, as expected.

Actress Jessica Simpson has dismissed reports her latest movie is so bad it won't be released in U.S. cinemas. The 26-year-old's upcoming romantic comedy Blonde Ambition, in which she stars alongside Luke Wilson, is allegedly not as good as studio bosses had hoped. An insider tells website UsMagazine.com, "It is going straight to DVD domestically. It will only come out in theatres internationally. The movie is absolutely horrible. It's just a bomb, mainly because of Jessica's acting." But a spokesperson for Simpson says, "It's definitely a theatrical release." One of the producers behind the project is former Malcolm In The Middle star Justin Berfield, who now lives in the Calabasas, California home that was used in Simpson's hit reality show Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica.

Jessica Simpson and ex-husband Nick Lachey have finally resolved the splitting of their assets, which officially brings their divorce to a complete close. Simpson, 26, and Lachey, 33, were married in 2002 and starred together in the MTV reality TV series Newlyweds: Nick And Jessica. They separated in November 2005 and filed for divorce the following month. The couple were free to legally marry others in June. According to American publication People, details of the settlement are undisclosed. Simpson is currently filming Blonde Ambition in Louisiana, while Lachey has been touring the US to promote his album What's Left Of Me. He has found love again with MTV host Vanessa Minnillo, while Simpson has been romantically linked with musician John Mayer.

Willie Nelson and Larry Miller have joined the cast of Blonde Ambition, Nu Image/Millennium Films' loose remake of the 1988 film Working Girl. Jessica Simpson is starring, with Scott Marshall directing.

The story follows a young woman (Simpson) who becomes the unwitting pawn of two ruthless business executives in their bid to usurp and replace the head of an international conglomerate. Nelson is playing Simpson's grandfather, and Miller is the CEO.

The casting reunites country legend Nelson with Simpson, with whom he worked on her feature debut, The Dukes of Hazzard. Miller, meanwhile, worked with Marshall on Keeping Up With the Steins.

Also cast in the film are Luke Wilson, Rachael Leigh Cook, Andy Dick and Penelope Ann Miller.

Producing are Joe Simpson, Richard Salvatore, David Ornston and Lati Grobman. Executive producing are Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, John Thompson and Michael P. Flannigan.

The script was written by Matt Flanagan, Dave McHugh, Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin.

The movie is shooting in New York and Shreveport, La.

Penelope Ann Miller has joined the cast of Blonde Ambition, a loose remake of the 1988 film Working Girl being directed by Scott Marshall and starring Jessica Simpson.

Also cast in the film are Luke Wilson, Andy Dick, Rachael Leigh Cook and Jamie Kennedy.

Miller is playing the conniving boss of Simpson's character, who is making her way through the corporate world.

Nu Image is producing. Sony Pictures is in talks to distribute the film, though whether it is theatrical or straight-to-DVD has yet to be determined.

Miller next stars opposite Chevy Chase and Armand Assante in ThinkFilm's slapstick comedy Funny Money, which is set to be released Jan. 19, and next appears in Columbia Pictures' psychological thriller The Messengers, opposite Dylan McDermott. Her credits include Carlito's Way and Kindergarten Cop.
