Forensic medical expert Dr. David Lindberg declares to recognize the abused youth as the burglar thug who, while escaping, committed a hut and run landing doc in a wheelchair for life. Mattes promises Lindberg an informal investigation, but finds with the team Juri Danilow is 'only' a petty street gang thief who didn't cripple Lindberg, so the must lean on him and his mate to turn on the abusive gang boss.

Torben Manstein, who moved back in with his psychiatrist mother Gertrud, is shortly arrested by Mattes and Melanie as his mean divorced wife Ariane Petri called the police for 'custody breach' when he demands to shortly speak at her home their five year-old daughter Lucie, who misses him. Ariane is shortly after hospitalized, unconscious with a dubious medicinal cocktail including Benzodiazepin and claims it's a setup by Torben, who finally obtains temporary custody by court order. Lucie can't handle the strife and runs away and Mattes finds the real drug monger.

Mattes isn't amused that his latest one-night-stand fling Finja Böhmer seems to assume a common future, even brings home-baked pastry to the precinct to meet his colleagues. He and Melanie investigate the non-fatal alleged hit and run of the daughter( 8) of a careless mother, who failed even to notice her rushing on the street after a doll-bag from Christian Quas's deli. The owner of the presumed hit car is found beaten up in need of hospital. While Finja accidentally prevents mates catching his assailant, the team works on the theories of an ex staking the mother and false testimonies from Quas and his local regular to 'avenge' his own son's hit and run car death years ago.

Introducing at night a railway building to spray graffiti, Lukas Sonntag falls from a ladder and incurs a dangerous electric shock, but is saved in ER. Mattes and Melanie find the secret codes of graffiti imply artist rivalry as possible motive, after convincing Lukas' leg-plastered buddy Philipp Peters, who stood guard but noticed no culprit, explains and even helps set a trap. It proves dangerous, also for Hans, who objected to experienced but out of practice Wolle as partner, yet he saves gas-poisoned Hans thanks to though research. Mattes finds last-minute that Lukas's bluntly neglectful selfish mother Esther and haughty girl friend Ava Schulte are the root cause of a tragic, devious plan coming to a fatal climax.

Hans and Alexa investigate the break-in at plastic surgeon Dr. Winkelmann's practice, where many medical substances are stolen, mostly botox. Some of it was used ineptly, causing facial damaging requiring ER help for Julia Schöne, and shortly after engineer Ewald Hofer's initially missing-reported wife Anna, whom it poisoned seriously. While Mattes finds the incompetent, unqualified 'beautician', nobody dares come forward, Hans painstakingly probes for suspiciously knowledgeable Alexa's own experience in Dr. Winkelmann's field.

An unidentified African disappears after leaving his daughter aged ten in ER doc Jasmine's arms. It turns out to be Ghanean family, linked to contraband stolen copper shipping. The team must work out who is guilty of which crime and prevent further cover-up violence.

Sven Wiebel objects by all means to a (definitely correct) speeding ticket from Alexa Seifart, suggesting when can buy one's way out in the neighboring precinct from Achim Seebens, who firmly denies so when Mattes is after him and Haller after his counterpart there, Jochen Braumeister. Sven's resistance to a search ends in his kid son Marten being hit by a car, but saved in ER. Sven's construction firm is in dire trouble, forcing him to desperate fraud. Alexa confronts him alone, pathologically insensitive as ever, almost leading to a shooting, inspiring her to resign from field duty, to asocial to accept a farewell drink.

Tarik investigates when handyman Oliver Karow, whom and Mattes recognizes as former master robber, is found by a neighbor and hospitalized, bitten by her dog after a bad fall. he was physically unable to pull it off alone, so the team looks into possible cahoots. Those include his daughter Nora, his former partner in crime, his fired employee who is now Nora's romantic partner.

Estranged brother Siegfried Höpfner and fresh widow Elisabeth, bickering over entrepreneur Gerhard's last rest in the funeral parlor, accidentally break his urn, which they find empty, suspecting each-other. Teams Tarik and Mattes investigate. Near-bankrupt undertaker Carsten Peil was knocked down and locked in a coffin and points to employee and alleged thief Peter Ellies, who confirms discount competition is crushing. Gerhard had a secret affair.

Artistic photographer Georg Ellerback was robbed and badly beaten at home at night, found b y an observant flat neighbor, but can't recall what happened, being drugged, his motorbike was wrecked and dumped. All suspects seem to have alibis. Disgruntled client Dennis Schleif claims Georg stole his pictures. Gallery keeper Roberta Schiller was jealous of his fiancee Kati Steinmann, who may have found out too as he had a girl in every exposition town and becomes the next target while the plot thickens.

Senile grandfather Freddy Rösner is unable to prevent two brat girls from beating up his doting granddaughter and hands over his cash, yet when assailant Annalena gets accidentally stabbed with the leader's knife, they pretend to be his victims, Britta making a run for it shortly after he real ones. The police must look for the pair after Freddy's daughter reports them missing, presuming it's a fugue because she intends to put her father in a special care rest home. Rowdie neighbor Thies Wildberger and petty thief is falsely suspected.

Hamburg private management college student Nils Kosta is deeply concerned when his pregnant peer girl friend Nadine Krüger collapses during an exam. The attempted theft by Michel Hilbert and his knave mates from floating restaurant gallion "Elbnixe" alerts the Hamburg harbor quarter police about the dangerous position of broke co-owner Ariane Rosenthal, who tried to make a run with party clients' down payments to pay off debt. Her daughter Clara who was beaten up, possibly by loan shark Ingo Kress, but the team also finds other links with some of the rascals.

Hardcore feminist cop Franzi Jung testifies as key witness in Julia Schneider's rape case against Jacques Messmer, but her estranged husband Philipp's findings as psychiatrists duly discredit the 'victim' and even the plausibility that a rape even took place. However the team, despite bitterness over her blunt refusal to consider any rational doubt about Julia's story, finds another alleged previous abuse victim, whose testimony, if given, could change everything.

During a routine ID check on a wrongly parked car's driver and passenger, Mattes and Hansen suddenly find themselves in a gun fight with the men, later identified as recently escaped former cellmates: Til Schilling, whom Melanie wounds badly, and Dennis Wörner, who not only gets away with Til but also kidnaps doctor Jasmin Jonas, yet gets overpowered by the paramedic from whose ambulance he tries to steal the supplies to doc demands to operate. It turns out Til was Jasmin's medical study mate before he lapsed into crime, has terminal cancer and desperately ants to avoid dying and jail and contacting his bitterly estranged adult daughter, Jenny Scholz.

Melanie enjoys a class reunion aboard a party boat. Suddenly nerd loner Arne Volkerts is reported missing, presumably fallen into the Elbe, and later found on the river bank. The next morning, fellow Heiner Brüggemann is found locked into the sauna of gray mouse classmate Ulrike Thomsen's hotel by cleaning cart, leaving him dangerously dehydrated and temporarily amnesiac. Melanie witnessed little, being occupied with Robert Zerlin. Possible motives are found in jealousy, spite and infidelity. Unorthdox Dr. David Lindberg, in a wheelchair, takes medical charge in hospital.

During a street raid, Mattes and Melanie arrest people carrying false ID, including pregnant Irina, which turns out to be a Czech alias for local Sandra Beyer, who is a fugitive for a lethal arson years, even her partner ignored that past. She runs, but needs medical care for an infection urgently. The team searches for her and the details of the fire in the anarchist group she belonged to with a present mission preacher, politician and working man, one of which is later badly beaten on the head.

Crone Hilde Bruns, whom moonlighting dragon nurse Frauke Prinz has been medicating at home as unqualified seniors assistant, is hospitalized for another cardiac incident, which turns out triggered by digitalis poisoning. Her favorite grand nephew and heir, student Torben Schuchard, son of bankrupt scumbag Norbert, discovers that the wooden box she brought along, containing her life savings in cash, is empty. Only Frauke, her colleague Nancy Hagen and Tobern's girlfriend had access.

Tom Bölling and Lisa Wenzel report their baby Summer missing, which the airhead (pregnant) mother foolishly allowed an unknown girl of ten to take for a walk in the park. It's found abandoned in its buggy, but diagnosed with shaken brain syndrome, suggesting repeated abuse by an adult. The alleged kidnapper kid is hard to find, the parents hope to emigrate.

After Sabine Dressler crashes her car against a tree, the cops soon suspect a hit and run of blunt attempt on her life. The empty child seat in her car inspires looking in to the child which may be key to the motive. Suspects include opponents and detectives in a custody case and the ex-con bar owner who anonymously called an ambulance.

While jogging in Hamburg's deer park, health inspector Klaus Bögner is wounded by crossbow. He may be the victim of local poacher Ingo Koller. A near-absent father, Klaus had an affair with forester Hanna Spohr, which his useless wife Vernika and devoted son Heiko found out about. He also blackmailed a local publican.

While Melanie jogs, her clueless mother Marlies Hansen catches an intruder at home and is abducted by him. He demands the return of his laptop as ransom. The team works out it's a case of mistaken identity trough a website, where Mel deleted her profile, the kidnapper mistakes her for a predatory prostitute who drugs and robs clients with an accomplice. Mattes serves as lure to trap them.

While social worker Karin Berger minds psychotic charge would be-musician Melody Schiller's doted pre-teen daughter Antonia, she dozes off and the brat disappears from the park, soon diagnosed stressed and drugged with Melody's medication. The cops also look into the father, wealthy Paulus Rohn, who agreed to weekly custody only, his party club buddy Vincent Adamowski, and Melody's hot -tempered boyfriend, barman Dennis Köhler. They stumble onto lies and secrets, including a traumatic fall.

Nina Hell's hop, the only one in the neighborhood with Internat delivery, is broken into and vandalized. Hans and Franzi consider the only stolen item, a cellphone, and especially jealousy from the backward competitors, shop keepers organized by her ex Frank Wehner. Later Nina suffer a car crashes after meeting mysterious Timo Baumgarten.
