"The Walk-On's," Writer/Director's eldest son (Jamieson Fitzpatrick) was a Senior Wide Receiver at Clearwater Central catholic Highschool in Clearwater FL. during the 2013 Season and was playing in the State Football Championship game in Orlando verses Trinity Christian (Jacksonville, FL). The CCC Marauder Players were a much smaller team than Trinity Christians (6'2" 250lbs. vs 6'5" 350lbs average). At halftime, Mr Fitzpatrick asked his son "How he was holding-up against Trinity's Defense?" Jamieson replied, "I wish you could put-on my uniform and go out and play the second half for me!" That is the moment James came-up with the idea for his Family Film.
"The Walk-On's," Writer/Director James Fitzpatrick, utilized names and nicknames of his (Seminole) High School Football teammates, which was his inspiration for all of the characters in the Film.
The only undefeated Football team (brothers) Jimmy & Tony Fitzpatrick ever played for during their 20-year-careers, was the 'Seminole Giants,' which was Coached by their father Jim Fitzpatrick Sr.
During halftime of the 2013 State Football Championship game in Orlando Florida between Clearwater Central Catholic & Jacksonville's Trinity Christian, James asked his eldest son Jamieson "How he was holding-up against the much bigger team," (averaging 80lbs heavier per Lineman) and Jamieson responded, "I wish you could put-on my uniform and go out and play the second half for me." At that moment James crafted "The Walk-On's," in his mind and began writing the script days later.
Director Jim Fitzpatrick, played Professional Football for a total of 5 years, with the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 2 short stints with the NFL's Chicago bears, the Baltimore Colts and his last three years with the Tampa Bay Bandits. Playing for Tampa Bay was a blessing in disguise however, because Burt Reynolds was one of Jim's Owners. Burt kindly gave a Jim a leg-up by introducing him to Super-Agent Nina Blanchard, which entrenched James into the Entertainment Industry.
