A promissing idea with not exactly happy result. Because all becomes fake and the ego of Buddy is axis of all show. Because the options are so subjective. Because it is not exactly the desired competition. And, sure, because it seems more a form of commercial than a chance to concurents.
Gave the show a try. Buddy is over the top rude like always to the people. And you already know who will win just by watching it.
The way he used "my advisor" it's like just frickin say
The judges and I. You don't own them to call them "mine"
Just like a plain Vanilla cupcake this show is the same baking show that has been done 1000 times before. Its bland and boring and honestly a bit stale. The contestants are interesting but the host and his "advisers" are boring and surprisingly poor at giving feedback. Little reason is given for the contestants successes and failures. I love baking, and baking shows but what I really like is something new and interesting which this show is not.
Buddy has contestants who create a pastry that will give him some understanding of who they are as bakers. Buddy chooses his two favorites who the have to replicate their signature bake on a large/marketable scale. The winner for that episode gets their product listed on buddy's website for us, the viewers to actually order and taste. Each week you have a winner with a new product. I've already ordered twice. No other show allows you to taste the product without cooking it yourself. This show also makes you see a small window of the large complexity of mass producing a quality product. Buddy may seemingly be abrasive and egotistical at times but he puts out and stands by excellence. I will continue to watch this.
