I have to say I came close to turning off after the first ten minutes or so. I'm not a big fan of the Japanese over-the-top acting style. But I have to say I'm happy I kept watching.
It's essentially a manga, and it wasn't until afterwards that I found out that it was indeed based on one, although there are plenty of clues in the show (the acting style, the framing, the use of graphics etc.) The story is kind of silly and the acting is wildly exaggerated. But if you take it for what it is it's very enjoyable.
The main character Yukimaru, played by Kyôko Yoshine, is like a shot of adrenaline pumped straight into the heart. It's impossible to watch her and not smile. Although she would make an absolutely horrible colleague in real life...
It's not often I want to see a second season, but in the case of this show I wouldn't mind that one bit. Can't wait to see what Yukimaru and her colleagues get up to next.

I think it should have been 10 episodes or a second season because it really is great show. Nothing original but the lead actress is so right for her part. I don't see anyone else doing so perfect.
My first ever Japanese show and I really loved it.
It's a very charming drama with some emotional beats at the end. Honestly, while some of the situations that the crew are put in seem very silly I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. All in all it was adorable and the first season is only 5 episodes, so it won't take too much of your time.
Japanese tv is basically the last remaining bastion of tv shows that are not obsessed with romance or political correctness
Yukimaru is someone that anyone can relate to but also someone who sports exceptional optimism and teamwork. At the same time she is a huge bungler doing many things wrong. But because she is so honest and hard working, she always seems to win the day.
Only the Japanese could make a comedy show about the running on a news TV station really interesting and it is because of a feeling generated that makes you care for all the characters especially Yukimaru. It is quite evocative of "Sunset on third street" despite being set in a very different time and place.
I laughed out loud a lot with some utterly hilarious moments. The subs are quite good and give non Japanese speakers the chance to understand the jokes well.
Overall I loved this show
Stay Tuned is a laughter riot from the get go. It's a show about the travails of Hanako Yukimaru, an eccentric, clumsy woman who applies to a channel for the role of a screenwriter, only to find herself accidentally interviews for (and somehow, selected for) a job in the reporting department! The rest of the show follows how Yukimaru's behavior forces everyone to be on their toes at all times, often having to cover up for her mistakes, while also at times showcasing her eccentricity, coming up with ideas that others wouldn't have even thought of.
I did not have much of an expectation before I began watching the show, but let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. This show's a home run. Combined with great acting, a good plot, and a short episode run of just 5 episodes, its definitely something everyone must watch! 10/10
