Peaky Blinders in the Trenches - between super-soldiers and rock attitude
Les Sentinelles is a wild, stylish series that surprises at every turn. Imagine Peaky Blinders dropped into the chaos of 1915 Paris - smoky bars, freakish dances, and raw rock riffs echoing between suicidal commando missions. The show blends gritty realism with superhero mythology: wounded soldiers transformed into enhanced warriors, fighting not only the Germans but also their own fading humanity.
The direction is stunning - dirty, elegant, almost punk - driven by a relentless energy. The villain feels like a Darth Vader on ecstasy, adding just the right touch of madness.
Bold, dark, and utterly original, Les Sentinelles electrifies the war genre and turns it into something unforgettable. A must-watch.

1916 Noir with historical artifacts
Doing an early review from Episode 1, will update as I go forward (or drop).
So far something very different. We are used to the 'superhero' genre by now, its quite trite... However there are a few things that make this different.
World war 1 and seems to be close to historically accurate. The dress/style of the WW1 troops adds to the atmosphere.
The flair of the times, very New Orleans/Parisian (I will leave it at that).
Unsure where this is going to go. Definately the production quality is very high. Hopefully the plot twists are actually meaningful and not just shock for shock sake.

Bad screenplay, yet again
It never ceases to amaze me how there is such huge competition for getting screenplay's seen and adapted, yet we still see well-shot and good production design ruined by terrible writing. So, one has to conclude its not the quality of the script, its who you know.
Well, shot, visually great, and reasonable performances by the cast, but what a stinker of a script! Unnecessary violence, unbelievable occurrences like: 'let's go 100km into enemy territory and save our man trapped in castle Wolfenstein guarded by an Uber-Stromtrooper, yep, no worries, back this afternoon.
Great idea for a story, but one who is versed in film would recognise several references to other movies, like Predator (the German super soldier carries the exact same version on his left wrist).
Come on guys and girls, if ya cant make something proerly, then give it to a storyteller that can!

Great!
I'll loved the comic books when I was a kid!
And now I see they made a show out of it, so because of the nostalgia it already is a +1 for me.
But let me start.. Its not the same as the books, it goes way past that. They did a great job on the backgrounds and decors the alternative time period feels authentic enough and you can feel the atmosphere of the first world war lingering. The storyline is good.. I would've preferred that it just followed the books, but hey, even Hollywood doesn't do that nowadays. Some people say that its a mashup from all sort of action/sci-fi movies and series but i really dont mind first off all its from a comic book and second who doesn't like a mix of wolfenstein, warhammer 40k, iron man, fallout, dishonored, etc.. and alot more .. I can confirm.. I like it!
They filming is pretty good somewhat rudimentary, only issue is had was the close combat fighting, it was a little bit to fast then to slow with slowmotion effects and especially it was shakey and thats where it lost me a little bit. Acting isn't bad either.. recently I saw a Dutch ww2 movie, i couldn't watched it because of the terrible acting this is good en sometimes even more .. so my opinion, if you like superheroes (antiheroes), war movies and aren't afraid of some action with a touch of grimdark sci-fi in a first world setting.. then you'll love this!
Oh, and after the series, and you want more you can read the comics!;)
