I love watching cooking shows, but if I see another host with cute hair, I change the channel
Just started to watch this show during covid lockdown , not much on, like the beginning with the contestant chefs going against each other , hate the judging "is this how you like your lamb chops cooked what is he/ she going to say no I screwed up, burnt the hell out of them , but yum yum . Then the end competition with the "pro" chef up against the winning chef who won a portable napoleon grill , gee thanks not even full size lol, go against each other, well does the contestant ever win the "big" prize nope not since I have watched , never so annoying , do they not want to give the prize money away, the judging drives me crazy also. Why do they ask who cooked which meal, just say the winner fps. Then reveal .
The best meal should be awarded BEFORE you ask who created what dish or what's the point.
The judging is messed up and holds no value otherwise.
I've watched the majority of the episodes and I like the show.... BUT...the end challenge is almost never one by the challenger. It seems almost biased towards the existing Fire Master chef. It's becoming a joke to watch. Challengers have better executed dishes....get the judges compliments on the most dishes.....and then lose.
As charming as host Dylan Benoit may be, two of the "judges" on this program are described with their first attribute as a "Food Network personality." That says as much about the commerce-driven, reality TV non-creativity that fuels most network television as it does about what viewers (sadly) seek. This is a filmed outside, three contestants instead of four, condescending game show bit that has kept "Chopped" on the air for however many seasons. While ego is a huge part of cheffing and restauranteur'ing, legit cooking is about joy, learning, and culture as it is about "look how great I can do this". We don't need more competition shows.
