- Workers are protesting at a construction site in Dakar. They are demanding the wages they have not received for three months. Among them is Souleiman (Ibrahima Traoré), who shortly afterwards meets his beloved Ada (Mame Bineta Sane) on the beach. He has decided with some colleagues to leave, to cross the sea to the promising Europe. Ada, who has to meet him in secret because she is actually promised to the wealthy Omar (Babacar Sylla), has no idea that this will be their last encounter. Shortly afterwards, everyone in the city learns that the boat that was supposed to take the young men to a better future has sunk. The women, children and Ada who stayed behind do not know what has happened to their loved ones. A few days after the accident, a fire devastates the house intended for Ada and Omar's wedding, and young women in the neighborhood are struck by a mysterious fever. Ada has no idea whether Souleiman is still alive or already among them as a ghost.—SRF
