This is taking "so bad it's good" to a whole other level and I found myself getting constantly impressed at how much effort the creators actually put in to making this as bad as possible, while it was still good.
The animations keeps changing making room for hilarous scenes at times, simply because of how different the characters look from moment to moment, it's a very unique aproach to showing the characters expressions and emotions, and one that I like.
The humor in this is exactly what I love about adult swim, sadly not many can follow this, but I believe that when you've seen so many different ways to approach comedy, sometimes you just need something strange that'll catch you off guard, and this most definetely does so.
Another thing is the soundtrack. It's great. I need more of it please!
All in all, this is just a great show, and I for one look forward to the next season.

The show is a good parody of anime which seems to be what most of these negative reviews don't seem to get. It is pretty funny in how it mocks the tropes of the genre in a 'so bad it's good' kind of way and doubles down on the frequently repeated parts of the anime medium. Pretty good for a show literally made to be nothing more than an April Fools joke from adult swim!
9.4? Stop it. THIS is what happens when people create things in a vacuum surrounded by their friends. There's no one around them to tell them honestly that what they're making simply...isn't...funny. And this show is definitely not. Of course, the animation is poor, but you're not expecting art. It's Adult Swim and we've seen worse. The problem is the show isn't funny, isn't entertaining, and doesn't really have a purpose except for attempting to be intentionally weird. It doesn't work. How does THIS get a steady time slot???
This show somehow got a second season and a hour long (hopefully series) finale. That's insanity. For a show that is fueled by raunchy ADHD non sequitur humor, it somehow feels longer and way more boring than it should be. The main character is completely unlikable and has an unbearably annoying voice. Most jokes fall flat. Did they find the most mediocre YouTube animator and tell him to write a show?
The only reason I'm giving this show a 2 star rating is because the soundtrack has some great tracks, however the musical talent is wasted on the final product. If you choose to watch this show after reading this review I'm sorry for the amount of life you will have wasted. Adult Swim has so many other great programs and you're better off rewatching your favorites.

If you like things like Tim and Eric's Bedtime Stories, Xavier: Renegade Angel, and Superjail, you'll probably love this. The writing is incongruous, the plot is all over the place, and the art style is hideous in the best of ways.
The first season is simply flawless in how flawed it is, maintaining a healthy self awareness throughout. You can see that time and love went into this project, and you'll eventually fall in love with all of the low-res jpeg characters. I love the music video breaks, which always serve the plot quite adeptly, I love the bizarre pacing and goofy, nonsensical writing, and despite the irreverant and parodic nature of it all, the ending was satisfying and meaningful. I love this show.
The second season lost all the charm, in my opinion, but it's not too bad.
