Miki Esparbé in Valley of the Dead (2020)

Goofs

Valley of the Dead

Edit

Factual errors

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

In the Movie, it appears that there are MP 40s present, which were not in production until 1940, one year after the end of the spanish civil war.

However, the MP38 was almost identical visually to the MP40, it's designation name change reflecting manufacturing differences more than notable mechanical/functional differences.

Those seen in the film cannot be seen clearly to be not MP38s, produced in 1938.

Revealing mistakes

At the opening scene, where the German soldier opens fire with the machine gun, you can clearly see that the ammo belt contains blanks.

Anachronisms

During the scene in the safehouse, the radio plays My Prayer by The Ink Spots. The song was released on 18th September, 1939, five months after the end of the Spanish Civil War.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

Throughout the film, particularly the end action scene, gunfire sound effects do not line up with the weapons being used. On many occasions, sound effects of bursts of shots are present as characters fire single shots from pistols etc.
