A slow burn but fun one

I didn't see any trailers for this movie so I went in cold which I think everyone should do in general.

The positives: I dig the cinematography, I love the rawness of it. The acting was good all around, but I loved Sydney Vollmer's performance, but I'm biased. The flick had some funny moments and I spotted a director cameo (love director cameos). Tyler Savino did a nice job writing and directing this one.

My only criticism about the movie is that it drags on a bit. It's slower paced, but it picks up once we get to the second half of the movie. I do wish there was some more cult stuff earlier, but this is a solid flick.

Brilliant debut feature

I Was able to catch an early screening of this film that the premier. Tyler Savino is a force to be reckoned with. The story is completely original and the characters are 3 dimensional. I loved how the film seemed to blend different genres in one. Marlee Carpenter delivers a tour deforce performance and she completely ignites every frame she's in with charisma and ease. I also loved how the film blended comedic tones through out. It doesn't take itself too seriously and yet it packs a heavy punch. I'm very excited to see what this filmmaker does next, he most certainly has a signature style and voice that is sure to leave an impact on future audience to come. Bravo!!

Unexpected, excellent indie film

Marlee Carpenter lights up the screen and infuses an undeniable energy into every frame she's in. Believable, awkward, and highly entertaining chemistry between the intriguing Hannah (Carpenter) and washed up, but loveable, comedian Roy (Matthew Alan Porter) along with stylistic cinematography and shot composition, a standout score, and nearly perfect pacing made this indie film a winner in my book! The audio was inconsistent at times and the ending felt a bit rushed but overall the smart writing, naturalized performances, and authentic feel of the film in what appeared to be often brutally cold shooting conditions made up for circumstantial errors. The tremendous effort by these indie filmmakers did not go unseen. Excellent work by director Tyler Savino and congratulations to the entire cast and crew of The Cran!
