Gentle comedy

Stumbled across this totally by accident on a youtube dive . So glad I did. There's someting about Scottish comedy that loves to self-defecate. My only gripe is that the writers need to remember that not all comedy stems from tragedy. I would like to laugh with, rather that at, the characters sometimes.

Each to their own

I admit it wasn't an instant hit with me, but once I had watched it a few times on DVD it grew and I think both series have their hilarious moments. I think the clue is in your comment about this being from the same people who brought you Still Game. There are two issues here; 1) no it wasn't as Greg Hemphill had no input, and 2) it ISN'T Still Game so no comparison can be made. At least it brought a few unknown faces into the public eye (the 'little & large' new boys Woody & Wallace were brilliant).

It wasn't everyone's cup of tea but must have been popular enough to get a 2nd series

Unbelievably bad.

It's amazing given that this show comes from the same people that brought us Still Game that they can create something quite so appalling. It's slow and desperately unfunny. Comic book, poorly rendered Rab C Nesbitt style awfulness with none of the charm of Rab C. I don't know the other reviewer but I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my opinions. But wait a minute! HOW ON EARTH did this tosh win a BAFTA? Do you get them free with coco pops these days? Some good actors in it, only let down by some over acting and what appear to be amateur actors. Is this really the best Scotland can do??? Didn't think much of Legit either but this was the worst of 2007's new Scottish programmes. An utter waste of time and effort. There is no way on earth this could get re commissioned surely to GOD.
