I could go on and on about this wonderful and gently told story but I want to tell you all that you will love every character in this movie. The lead actresses are beautiful and perfect as Samantha and Abigail. I thought the woman who played Dr. Christopher was excellent. Again very believable in every way. The actor who plays Jack the Empire Club manager is cast well. From his love and caring of Samantha to his sort of believable relationship with Samantha's manager, John Hale stood out. I don't know if the trio is real musicians or not, but I believed them too. Much has been said about the score. I agree with everyone. It's spectacular. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time.
I watched the film for the story and it's a tender, heart wrenching story. I watched it again for the music. This has the most beautiful score I've heard in a film in a long time. Samantha conveys so much emotion in her expressions and body language. And Abigail does the same as though the two lovers have their own language that they won't share with us. When Samantha says that they are an "us" I feel the bond they are making. The story brought a few tears as Samantha deals with a coming loss. But I believed it all. Many thanks to writer and director Jan Corran for bringing us what will surely be the number one lgbtq film of the year. Oh and it is gorgeous to watch.
Definitely open a bottle of your best champagne. Then curl up on the sofa or your cushy bed with someone you love. This is one film that just may make you fall in love all over again. I know I did. Monica Young and Andrea Bogart are superb actresses. I believed in them as a couple and was only sorry that there wasn't a longer movie so I could watch them interact more. I was especially moved by the lighting used in different scenes. The bedroom one was luscious. Both women couldn't have looked more beautiful. The scene in the end is amazing. The music is powerful and the look on Samantha's face is priceless. Thank you for making this beautiful movie.
When Samantha looks at Abigail and says that she knows all she needs to know, I was hooked. First time in a long time that the chemistry between two leads was almost leaping off the screen. The acting is believable. I almost felt like I was a voyeur into their space. The story centers on the loss of hearing that Samantha is preparing for. She pulls Abigail in to help her cope but then pushes her out. In the end all is good but you need to see how these two women got there. The music is outstanding. Each note compliments each scene perfectly. Hard to do but the composer did it. I highly recommend adding Concerto to your list of films to see.
I rarely give a film ten stars but I honestly found nothing wrong and everything right with this movie. The story is touching and the writer handles it beautifully. The lead actresses are very believable. I don't know if they are gay in real life but if not, they convinced me that they are women who like women. Some of the supporting actors were excellent. I thought the members of the trio were wonderfully played. If they were faking it, it didn't show. The manager was annoying but it works well. Her over protection shows. I can't say enough nice things about Monica Young as Samantha and Andrea Bogart as Abigail. Their love builds in a stunning way. It's a beautiful film.
