Was not having expectations whatsoever from the movie as I was knowing the magic of Govinda-David Dhawan cannot be created again. However, I liked Varun in Judwa remake somewhat. Decided to watch this movie but now regretting.
This is the remake of 1995 hit Coolie No 1 but fails to entertain as much as the original movie does, even now.
David dhawan sticks to the original story but many changes can be seen in the movie. Obviously this movie has been shot in 2020 so the set looks more modern and vivid but it misses the touch of old hit.
Speaking of the performances, none of the actors seem to be entertaining the audience. Govinda's charisma and performance was misseed sorely throughout the movie. Varun comic timing in this movie is the worst. I have seen Varun's performance and he is a good actor but here he falls flat.
Kadar Khan's character was the soul of the movie apart from govinda's character. Here Paresh Rawal tries but he fails in delivering a memorable role. He is a great actor no doubt but he fails here big time.
Sara Ali Khan doesn't impressed me a bit.
This film should not have been made in the first place. No need for a remake if you can't offer something new to the audience. Moreover you are insulting the old classic and here, the old classic is made by you, David Dhawan.
Sad and totally disappointing end to the year.

I have seen you in October and I know you can act and probably want to do more movies like October.
Please go ahead and make movies such as Coolie No.1 for the masses and be proud of it. But also consider your viewers who do access OTT platforms. With no judgement, you know that the viewers of theaters and the OTT and very very different, so you ought to take opportunities in OTT shows/series/movies wherein you need to do serious stuff like October.
I wish a very happy new year, you are better than this.

I have never rated a movie ever before. However I made it a point to login this time and Rate this particular movie. This is because, I have lost some IQ points while watching this movie.
Even from a totally mindless comedy standpoint, this movie needs to be called out for it truly underestimates its audience's entertainment appetite and this could be the only way (although highly insignificant ) i could give it back.
PS: My biggest disappointment is to see Javed Jafri in it. Why did you sign this one, dude? I can totally understand for others in this movie, but why you? I can't buy that it's for money. The only plausible reason I could think of is you wanted to show off how fit you are for this age still and this movie wanted to have at least one timeless tag to it.
PPS: David Dhawan : It's okay to just say THE END

David Dhawan once again proved that everything has it's expiry and he himself is no exception. Although with highly capable and talented ensemble cast including his son Varun who has no lack of energy, comic acting capability and star material, the movie is a pain to watch. Does this basic norm David is not aware of... Comedy cannot be forced? From the very first scene where Paresh Rawal, originally played by Kader Khan with his formidable one liner, delivered his first line with chewing accent, you start feeling the stink. This is the 2nd occasion when an acting mastreo like Rawal fall flat in front of Kader khan after Himmatwala remake. And this torture follows with Rachpal (Shakti Kapoor), javed jafri (Sadashiv), Johni lever (Anupam kher) and last but not the least Varun (numero uno comedy king Govinda). Every scene was attempted to outdo the original version, keeping the dialogues /screenplay almost same but without the free flow of comedy spontaneity. So if one loved cooli no 1 (Govinda), he will be compelled to switch of the movie after half an hour max. Shame David, shame
I am fan of David Dhawan-Govinda movies...but this movie is an insult to his talent and name... First of all Sara Ali Khan should find some other career option, she can't act. Secondly, Varun shouldn't be considered a second Govinda...Govinda is a legend.
We don't want a second Govinda. Third but not the least, talents like Paresh Rawal, Jawed Jaffery and Rajpal Yadav were misused...
Pls don't spoil the fun of 90s classics, by making such nuisance movies. I didn't have less than 1 star to give...so 1.
