Metal Slug 6 is the first game in the series to not run on Neo Geo MVS arcade hardware. Instead it uses Sammy Corporation's Atomiswave arcade system.
Metal Slug 6 has never been available outside of Japan as a separate title. Both of its Western releases have been in collected editions, namely Metal Slug Anthology for the Playstation 2 and Metal Slug Collection for PC.
